James 2:14-23 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
There's a difference between saying and doing. There are many people that are willing to make the statement that they believe that Jesus is the son of God. On top of that is that there are those that will pat those people on the back and tell them that they are alright with God. Having your name on the church books doesn't give one more faith or make one saved. Some today say it all day long that they believe but nothing to prove it. There is a difference between saying it and doing it. Their are pastors that tell there congregants that all they have to do is simply say it and they'll be saved. "Repeat after me..." We still live in a society that state they're saved but have no true evidence of such. Getting saved is not anything that a preacher does but an operation that is done by Christ Himself. Just because you tell the devil to flee means nothing because it's the Holy Spirit that causes the devils to leave. Not everyone that says Lord, Lord will be in Heaven. Matt 7:22-23, Have we not done wonderful things in your name? Jesus Christ loves you and does not want you to go to Hell. Make sure you're saved! Even the Devils and Satan say they believe in God but as we all now they are ALL destined for Hell. The Holy Spirit MUST reveal unto you that you're lost before you can be saved. You can go thru the motions, say all the right things but if Christ hasn't invited and revealed to you then you're wasting your time and hurting others. James 2:23, Abraham said he believed God. But God tested him and thru his works/faith it was shown that he truly was a "Friend of God". Is you're faith real? Has it stood the test of time? Has it wavered? Is it your faith alone and not someone else's?

Why Do You Do?
Philippians 3:1-15 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
Whatever we do we should do it as we are to do it for the Lord. There are many that do things in Gods name but they don't even know Him. There are those out there that think that just because they are good or do good things means they are okay with Christ. Many so called preachers on tell many that if you're good hearted then it's alright with God. Phil 3:7-8 Where is your zeal and desire for the one that loves you? We often live in ourselves and want the things that comfort ourselves. Are you concerned if He is pleased with you? A "just get by" attitude doesn't please God. Phil 3:9-10 How many really try to know God to get closer, to know His attributes? You should desire to to know Christ like He knows you. Strive after Him! The greatest treasure that your heart would ever desire is Heaven. Everyone wants to go to Heaven but they don't know how to get there. They've been deceived on how to get there. So do you want to go to Heaven? Phil 3:12-14 We should chase after Jesus because He first loved us, not us loving Him first. Forget those things that cause you to distress. Fix your eyes on the goal ahead and go for it! There is a prize to be gained at the end of the journey. Heaven is the prize and if you miss it, you've missed it ALL. Once you get to Heaven the fighting, suffering, and longing stops. Phil 3:15 If you think different than what was just mentioned, then you're wrong and Hell bound. 2 Cor 5:9, the love of Christ should make you get up and do it all for Him because He loved you first. If you're a Christian then you have NO excuse to do what it takes for Christ.

Miracles Still Happen
1 Samuel 1:9-28 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
God does the extraordinary. He is not ordinary. There are a lot of prosperity speaking about as long as you do for God, He will do whatever you want. That teaching is unbiblical and is the furthest thing from the truth. God does what He wants when He wants to based upon only the future that He knows. God is still in the miracle business. Four points Sincere desire, 1 Sam 1:11; Hannah asked a particular thing. A single male child that she would give back to God. How many times when the miracle happens we put our hands around it and claim the miracle and not whom gave it? Believe the giver, 1 Sam 1:18, Heb 11:6; we are to believe that He is and He will. With God all things are possible thru faith. We do not know the will of God. Have patience, 1 Sam 1:19-23, when the miracle finally shows up often the vow is forgotten. It's better to not make a vow than to make it and then break it. Must be obedient, 1 Sam 1:25-28; if you're disobedience to God then He will not bless. At times, one miracle will usually lead to another miracle but one must stick with it.

Rules of Gift Giving
2 Corinthians 9:6-8 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
|The gift of God is simply, John 3:16. He gave the unspeakable gift. Beginning from the last, everything comes from God. Not one person has anything unless it comes thru God first. We as humans are selfish creatures by nature. God wants to give you His undeserved love. Many holidays come and go and they revolve around giving, however we should be a giver everyday. If you're judging the gift by its size then you've missed the point. One doesn't give because of self, one gives because they are loved. We've been given the greatest gift, love, that it should cause one to give it back.
There should be a time when you've found yourself in want. Bills to pay, missing food on the table or even gas to fuel the car. During that time, God might come to you and ask you to give to someone else. Now money is not something that can be controlled and many of billionaires worry about it till they die.
One point to be a good giver is to give abundantly and not sparingly. Just as sowing seeds, one doesn't plant one seed expecting hundreds of plants.
Point two, give purposely. One should purpose in their heart to love God and to pray for the need or gift. God knows the need and therefore we should obey what He tells us to give.
The third point is to give freely. This doesn't mean to smile while you gift it. Without a grudge or necessity. If it bothers you to give then you're giving wrongly.
If how you give is based on how you feel at the moment then the devil will talk you out if it every time. God tries to teach His lesson on giving by your obedience. When God tells you to give, give without question. No matter how much one gives, one can NEVER out-give Gods giving. We give because if we sow it, we will reap it as long as it's done by the above three points. The second reason is because God loves a cheerful giver. Wouldn't we all want to please God? Now when the offering was being taken, God is always watching. He knows what's in your pocket, He knows what's in your heart and He knows what He told you. It's not about how much is put it but why it was put in. Our church does not tell you how much to give because an amount is not biblical in today's time. The Old Testament explain a tenth but the New Testament explains that it's based on what God tells you to give and what you're willing to give. If you're worried about giving then you're worried about the wrong thing. 2 Cor explains that always God will take care of all needs.

There is One Foundation
Isaiah 28:16 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
God laid the foundation. He laid down the stone. It was laid for you and me. Not by man. There is only one foundation. It is Christ. We are to be built upon the foundation. To be master builders with our lives, building on that pe felt foundation. There is only one foundation. Once we die the structure will perish but the foundation will remain. Christ's sacrifice was the foundation. That's where it all begins. The single stone. You must come thru Christ to find God. Once you're founded in and on the foundation, nothing can shake you off it. Like the wise man who built his house upon the rock. The storms will come but the house will stand because the foundation is sure. God is the ever-present source of strength and when the storms pass He still stands. What have you built your house on? If you're anchored in Jesus, nothing can overcome a child of God. The foundation of God is a tried and precious stone. Weeping endures for a night but joy comes in the morning. Christ is the hope, precious, love and essence of who Christians are. The house decays in the storm but the foundation holds.
