Lip Service
James 2:14-23 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
There's a difference between saying and doing. There are many people that are willing to make the statement that they believe that Jesus is the son of God. On top of that is that there are those that will pat those people on the back and tell them that they are alright with God. Having your name on the church books doesn't give one more faith or make one saved. Some today say it all day long that they believe but nothing to prove it. There is a difference between saying it and doing it. Their are pastors that tell there congregants that all they have to do is simply say it and they'll be saved. "Repeat after me..." We still live in a society that state they're saved but have no true evidence of such. Getting saved is not anything that a preacher does but an operation that is done by Christ Himself. Just because you tell the devil to flee means nothing because it's the Holy Spirit that causes the devils to leave. Not everyone that says Lord, Lord will be in Heaven. Matt 7:22-23, Have we not done wonderful things in your name? Jesus Christ loves you and does not want you to go to Hell. Make sure you're saved! Even the Devils and Satan say they believe in God but as we all now they are ALL destined for Hell. The Holy Spirit MUST reveal unto you that you're lost before you can be saved. You can go thru the motions, say all the right things but if Christ hasn't invited and revealed to you then you're wasting your time and hurting others. James 2:23, Abraham said he believed God. But God tested him and thru his works/faith it was shown that he truly was a "Friend of God". Is you're faith real? Has it stood the test of time? Has it wavered? Is it your faith alone and not someone else's?

Possession and Profession of Faith
James 2:19-20 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
We are fortunate to live in a place that the Word of God is common. Do you understand the difference between knowing there is a God and knowing God. Just because you believe there is a God doesn't mean that you are saved. We believe that our cars will start. We believe that the leftovers in here fridge will not make us sick and are still good to eat. Even the devils believe there is only one God but that doesn't mean they are born again. People live that there is always a tomorrow. They live as if there is no judgement. Many have professed that they know Jesus Christ but they do not live for Him. Just because you believe that the sun will come up tomorrow doesn't mean that it will. Faith without a work is not a faith. True faith will compel you to do things you would rather not do. You could go to church all your life and still go to hell if you're not saved. Your church membership will not get you into heaven. How will you know that you've been saved? There will be a change, not outward but inward.  The bible has been given to give life, a working faith.
Preached by Tommy Boring on March 16, 2014 (Sunday Morning).
Real Faith = Real Works
James 2:14-26 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
It doesn't matter how long one has been saved, when you think of faith with your salvation it will bring back a lot of great things. By faith the men of God did many of great things. Faith is never alone. Faith will produce works if it's used. There are many religions that are built upon works. Works alone will not bring faith.  People revolve around works but without faith they are all dead. It's impossible to please God without faith. Matthew 7:27 Just because one says they are a Christian doesn't mean that they are one. A real Christian will have real faith with real works. By faith one became saved. A real profession of faith doesn't mean a real possession of faith. We've had people that are our faith heroes. They walked by faith and worked through faith. The devils believe that there is God. How does one show their faith without works? Just as the body without breath is dead, the same for works without faith. You can always tell a tree by the fruit it bares. If you've truly been saved, your fruit/works will prove it.
Preached by Tommy Boring on December 8, 2013 (Sunday Evening).
Prayer + Patience = Answers
James 5:13-20 (Part of the Spiritual Maturity series).
There are things in our lives that we can't change and will never be changed in this life. We always pray when we are in troubles but, we hardly ever pray when we feel good with no troubles. If we live in sin God will NOT hear our prayers. We don't have a blank check for healing.
Preached by Tommy Boring on August 5, 2012 (Sunday Morning).
The Patience Of Job
James 5:7-12 (Part of the Spiritual Maturity series).
The importance of patience. No excuses about not having patience. We will argue with anything simply because we have no patience. We mess up when we do thing on our own, without God. You can't have a positive without a negative.
Preached by Tommy Boring on August 1, 2012 (Wednesday).
