Strength for the Journey (Part 1)
1 Kings 19:1-8 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
Elijah was being prosecuted for his belief. One normally thinks that if one does wrong, being treated wrongly, one deserves it. However, the opposite of that is if one thinks they done nothing wrong, they shouldn't be done wrongly. God has called us into a work but not in order to do them by ourselves. When you put yourself away from the people of God then you've isolated yourself from help and have invited the devil to attack you. Once you've isolated yourself you begin to find yourself alone and depressed. You'll quickly find yourself giving up on the battle. Once you've given up on the battle, you'll just want to die. At the heart of the issue, it's that you've given up on God. You began to accuse God thinking that you know what's better. BUT God has never stopped loving you or given up on you. The first thing to do to get out of the rut, is to do whatever God tells you to do.
