The Shortcut To Repentance
2 Corinthians 7:1-10 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
We can say we are sorry to each other but no really mean it. God knows if our repentance is true. The only thing that can comfort one in sorrow is repentance, God. There is no greater joy than to hear that someone has repented. How does God tell one that they need to repent? God can speak to one through the preacher. The preacher doesn't know any more than the next person. God can not overlook sin. God can use circumstances to speak to ones heart to repent. God knows how to open our hearts. God can also use someone else to speak to us about repentance. If God tells you to speak to someone about a dangerous lifestyle/sin, please speak with them. Love them enough to help them and not worry about what the devil will threaten you with. What are you trying to hide from God? What is it in your heart that God is dealing with you about?
Preached by Tommy Boring on June 22, 2014 (Sunday Evening).
At the End of Your Rope
Jonah 2:1-10 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
When a man goes far enough from God, it takes desperate measures to go back. There are many in this world that they know that they've been saved but they've turned away from God. Even though those have turned away, God NEVER let's them go. God knows how to make you pray. To some that turn away, it takes the worst punishment for them to turn back to God. Man changes all the time but god has never changed. Not one personal can look upon another and judge them to say that they are being punished due to their backslid life. God will never give up on you if you are one of His. God was not joking around and laughing about it when He put His ONLY son on the cross and turn ed His back on Him to allow Him to die. God is not out to punish people. God just wants us to obey. All that one has to do is to confess their sins and turn back towards Him. Do you think God would take you home if you are behaving badly enough?
Preached by Tommy Boring on April 9, 2014 (Wednesday).
Give The Devil A Black Eye
2 Corinthians 2:8-11 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
If you want to stand for God be prepared for the enemy to attack. If you are saved, nothing can take that away from you. Keep your head up because you've got someone on your side that controls everything around you. The devil will raise up strife against you and others. Christians shouldn't be ignorant of what satan can do because God has told us to put on His FULL armor. If you have troubles with something and you don't know what to do about it, read your bible and ask God. There are three things that John examined that the devil uses against us. The list of our flesh is one of the things that satan uses against us. Satan is looking for the weak spot of your fleshly nature. The second thing that satan uses is the lust of the eyes. The third thing is the pride of life. The devil is not all knowing and he also can't be everywhere. He does however have many demons that he commands. The devil used those same three things against Jesus. The lust of the flesh was Jesus' hunger. Satan is nothing but a liar and if you are saved, he can not touch you. Satan causes worry, it is a component of fear produced by doubt.
Preached by Tommy Boring on September 8, 2013 (Sunday Morning).
My Very Best And Nothing Less
Matthew 10:34-39 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
We need as Christian to expect to be persecuted. Persecution is something that we usually fear but we should not be afraid if we walk with God. There are more people killed as martyrs today than yesteryear. Most do not want to die unless they are terminally ill. Most are afraid of the things that the devil can and will throw on us. We should not be afraid of what the devil can do. God doesn't want cowards in His army. Most do not want conflict in their life. God didn't send peace to the world. God sent His sword to divide the world from His followers. When you do it Gods way, it means that the ones that love you the most will stand against you. Be warned and regardless of who is against you, you must make up your mind on who you will serve. We've wasted too much time serving Him because we will not give it ALL to Him. If you love something over God, then you're slacking in your service to Him. There will never be another love like Gods love. Any good parent would lay their life down for their children but would you be willing to lay your life down for a sinner? We all have our own cross to bare and we all need to carry it on our own. You cant be afraid and run. The warning is to stand strong and be committed. Surrendering is to completely sell out to Christ.
Preached by Tommy Boring on August 14, 2013 (Wednesday).
Sin, The Destroyer
Romans 6:23 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
To know what Christ did for us, we must first look at where He brought us from. We usually try to water down sin or being in it. Being in sin is being dead. Sin is a destroyer of life. We often treat sin as a sickness that we will eventually recover from. No one can handle sin. Sin is something that you should be afraid of. Sin is something that shouldn't be played with. Gods standards are the same today as they were when He first established them. Some will say that one should follow their heart, but God says otherwise. Once sin gets a foothold, it will destroy your family you and anything it touches. We should be asking God to mold you and doing what He tells you to do. We can not do it on our own without sinning and sin destroying us. One can't live in sin and serve God too. God is righteous and loving just as parents are loving to their children, He will chastise His children because He loves them. Gods wrath will be shown if you continue in sin and not repent. The only thing that can separate someone from God is sin. Christ went through Gods wrath for our sin. He loved us so much that He took ALL sin upon Himself. That alone is enough to thank Him and rejoice in His love for us. Just as sin is a destroyer, the love of Christ is life forever.
Preached by Lucas Boring on July 31, 2013 (Wednesday).
