Are You Doing Your Best? (Part 5)
2 Peter 3:11-18 (Part of the 2 Peter 3 series).
One can compare themselves to others, preachers, friends and family. Can you honestly say that you're doing your best for God? Do you believe the word of God? Almost all church members say they believe the word of God. The scripture says that whatever you do, do it the best that you can do. We mostly put more effort into worldly items. God's Word clearly says that we can do all things through Him, so why do we keep making excuses as to why we can't do something for Him? People attend church for various reasons, one is because it's just something one does on Sunday's. But God knows why you attended and where your heart is during the service. 1 Cor 2:4; Col 6:4, if you know God is coming back how should your conversations be? Just thinking back in the past week, was your actions, words and willingness of God? There are many people that really work but they work for the check. They never do their very best, just enough to get the paycheck. What type of person should you be knowing that God is coming back? The answer is the very best you can be. The problem is that you don't want to "pay" to do your best. All around us we have people that are addicted to this world in one way or another. Just getting by for Christ will not persuade a persons addiction. But not only that, if you don't give your best, you've made a choice to sin. Is it ok for the preacher to live any way they'd want to live? Why? God expects just as much from a church member as He does a preacher.
