Being A Martha (Acts 27:20-25)

Tommy BoringTommy Boring, September 9, 2018
Part of the Miscellaneous series, preached at a Sunday Morning service

The children of God have something to be joyful about. There are some things that we should just let go of. Stuff can bring one down and press down their joy.

First and foremost one must be saved in order to have the joy that surpasses all understanding.

Have you ever received that phone call in the middle of the night that just takes your breath away? All of us are or will go thru a tough time where we feel as if we can't get over it. All humans if left alone naturally will become depressed. It's a part of our nature. A lot of people want to talk and share the bad news.

Don't we all make bad choices? A lot of times it's by human error but there are times that it's done knowingly. As we all know, we reap what we sow.

There are things that are gonna hit you when you're unprepared. If your fear is death, God has already dealt with that and there's plenty of scripture to back that up. We've been taught that we should blame something for bad things happening. But God has said that even when they happen to be of good cheer. Just because bad things happen doesn't mean it was because of something bad. God takes ALL things and makes them ALL good for His believers. The truth is that we as humans will not be healed of everything or get thru every hard thing. The truth is that we will all die so something is going to take us all out. The difference is that the saved have someone to depend on.

If you're a child of God rest assure He does not make a mistake. There are many saved people that could tell you their story of being low and down and thinking that all hope was lost. Then they have their "but God" moment when He comes and saves the day. So be of good cheer because God is with you.

Acts 27:20-25

20And when neither sun nor stars in many days appeared, and no small tempest lay on us, all hope that we should be saved was then taken away. 21But after long abstinence Paul stood forth in the midst of them, and said, Sirs, ye should have hearkened unto me, and not have loosed from Crete, and to have gained this harm and loss. 22And now I exhort you to be of good cheer: for there shall be no loss of any man's life among you, but of the ship. 23For there stood by me this night the angel of God, whose I am, and whom I serve, 24Saying, Fear not, Paul; thou must be brought before Caesar: and, lo, God hath given thee all them that sail with thee. 25Wherefore, sirs, be of good cheer: for I believe God, that it shall be even as it was told me.
