There's Life In the Water (1 Kings 18:35-39)Tommy Boring, October 2, 2016
Part of the Miscellaneous series, preached at a Sunday Evening service
We need to get on fire for God. Mediocrity is death. We need to let go of our indifference and let God. Life is in the water. Elijah was bringing life back to the altar. There's nothing God did t take that He won't restore. When we sacrifice what separates us from God on the altar, life is given in return.
There's life at the altar.
God switches our sacrifice and surrender for restoration and life. There's no life anywhere but in God. God is the source of water and wastes nothing. He is the resource. The altar is where faith is proven. It's the place where things are real. There's water all over the altar. Everything you love most is in the altar and in all these things there is life. The most important thing you could have in you altar , it's what the drought stricken world doesn't have and you can have all the water you need everyday.
Why won't you go to the altar? Because the hard part is the preparation for prayer. The willingness to surrender. We aren't waiting on God; He's waiting on us. You'll never be able to go to the altar of God and not leave unchanged. But we have to bring our best. We cannot have sin and expect God to accept our sacrifice.

1 Kings 18:35-39
35And the water ran round about the altar; and he filled the trench also with water. 36And it came to pass at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that Elijah the prophet came near, and said, LORD God of Abraham, Isaac, and of Israel, let it be known this day that thou art God in Israel, and that I am thy servant, and that I have done all these things at thy word. 37Hear me, O LORD, hear me, that this people may know that thou art the LORD God, and that thou hast turned their heart back again. 38Then the fire of the LORD fell, and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench. 39And when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces: and they said, The LORD, he is the God; the LORD, he is the God.
