The Essentials of the Christian Life
1 Corinthians 13:13 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
Social distancing. Keep yourself 6 feet away or further from another. Shelter at home or safer at home. Just means to stay at home as much as you can. We hear these terms a lot here lately and are things that we’ve not heard about before. But one term that stuck is the word essential. The leaders decided what was essential during this time. Businesses were forced to close while other could remain open just because they were declared essential or not. The Essentials of the Christian Life Everyday when we wake we know that there are things that are essential. Now God news the very thing that you need. Others are watching and looking at you and wanting to see hope. Galatians 5:22-23 Love, Joy, Peace, Long suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance. A peach tree produces peaches and peaches only. It can’t bear apples because it’s not an apple tree. Just the same as a Christian. A lot of folks call themselves Christians but if what comes out of you is NOT Christian then you are confused. Those wonder why they can’t live like they think a Christian should. Those are trying to produce something that they simply can’t because they are missing the most important at part, being saved. Christians are often pruned in order to bear more fruit and they are loved. A Christian doesn’t have to work to produce their fruit. Just as a peach tree, at times it will produce a fruit that may have a worm, or be bruised but it’s still a peach. It will not produce an apple. The Holy Spirit knows nothing but to work in a Christian and therefore produce the fruit. We but just the tree, He pushes out the fruit. Faith, hope, and charity, those three abide within a Christian. But the greatest is charity. There are essentials in a Christian life. Faith Faith is the evidence of things unseen. We know the wind blows but you can’t see it. But the evidence that it’s there is because we see the wind moving things. As a Christian your faith should always be growing. God always helps with those things that you can’t see, He helps your unbelief. But, we have to be a useable tool, we must focus upon Him. We are still learning to allowing Him to be in control. Faith is Essential! Faith without works is dead. What is the works? In the story of Abraham we see that God told him to take his son to be sacrificed. The works was Abraham following thru with it and obeying God. When God told Moses to stand still and watch Him work. If Moses did stand still then God couldn’t work. Moses making a choice to stand still was his works. Where is your faith? Hope Faith and hope go together. The very things that of your faith is your hope. For a Christian, Christ is the object of our hope. Our bible, we believe it to be truth, the Word of God, the object of hope is written within it’s pages. Now in this book we read of place, Heaven. Our faith in the object, Heaven gives us our hope isn’t Heaven. Romans 8:24, seek your hope if you’re a struggling Christian. People without hope become depressed, negative, and rough. They’ve allowed things of this world to interfere with their Spirit. Job’s wife told him to curse God and get it over with when he had lost everything in his life. Job while in his pain told his wife that she talked like a foolish woman. He knew the hope because he had faith. He stated, if a man die will he live again to which he responded to himself and stated yes. The world has faith but they don’t have Christ. They have the ability to believe, it’s what they believe in that’s wrong. Love Love is simply charity. Christ is the ultimate charity giver as He gave His life for the lost. He is Agape love, a love that not because of but in spite of. John 3:16, same love. In 1 John we know that God IS love. Love is something that we can’t understand. Loves goes further than we will ever know. From the beginning God gave the commandment that you should love God with everything within you. One should also love their neighbor as themselves. All of the other 8 commandments could be covered with just those 2 commandments. You first thought in the morning when you wake should always be to love God and then love your neighbor. As a Christian, one of the things that should come easy is to love God and neighbors. God is always helping with the loving. Essential to the Christians life, faith, hope, and love. Do you struggle with doing those things?

I've Never Been Worthy!
Luke 15:11-24 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
First and foremost, if you think you’ve gone too far and God doesn’t love you, you’re wrong. Now in this story of this rebellious youth, we see that once he realized that he had hit his brick wall, he wanted to go back. Was this youth saved or lost? Well, in this story it’s not clearly stated but the youth knew he had a father. A lost person denies the fact that they have a father, a savior. We’ve likely heard a lot of stories about the prodigal son, about him coming back. But what we want you to see is that once he came to his senses, he thought he was unworthy of his fathers love. Now in our lives we all know of people where they’ve been in a desperate place where they’ve “spent it all” in the world. Some have continued in that path, but other have turned back and went to their fathers house. How many of you have ever felt the weight of the sinful shame you’ve created? You realize that there are none worthy of Gods love. We are a constant sinner regardless of our situation. John the Baptist that had nothing knew that he was nothing compared to Jesus. He was completely humbled by Jesus. This story we see that this youth walked into the city with pride, riches, and knowing he had a father that loved him and gave him what he wanted. But, with humility he walked back home in his own shame. Once he got home his father looked beyond his sons wrongdoings. His son still felt the guilt and shame but his father pushed it aside. The world wants one to think they can just go thru the motions while at church but when it’s in your heart, that’s the problem. There’s never been a day that you should boast about yourself and what you think you’re worthy of. Don’t be ashamed to come to God, but, if you feel shame for what you’ve done, then you’re on the right track towards God. Keep walking towards Him. In one story we read about a woman that was on a mission. She broke customs and went into a room filled with men, removed her head covering and washed Jesus’ feet. We see that she didn’t bring water but used her very tears while she wept in her humbleness. We also see that she made it a point that she wasn’t taking nothing back cause she broke that container that held ALL of the anointing oils. Being born again is not based on our works or our worth. Paul stated that he was the chief of sinners and yet did a lot of amazing things. Where does that leave you, us? Peter thought he was worth it. But Jesus began to explain the details of what marks he missed. Never treated him, customary kiss, washed his feet, yet this woman had not stopped as soon as Jesus walked in. We live in a culture where people want a pat on the back for thinking they done good things, a self righteous generation. The only one that is worthy is Jesus Christ. He did everything for you.

The Dangers of Only an Earthly Perspective (Part 1 of 2)
Psalm 137:1-41 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
We must maintain the correct perspective when hard things happen. We need to examine ourselves and make sure our earthly perspectives line up with Gods. There is a great danger in allowing the earthly perspective to reign in our lives. If all one does is watch the news all day you’ll allow it to rule your life. Romans 8:28 God has control of ALL things and His children have nothing to worry about. If you allow the earthly things to control then you’ll quickly find your perspective failing and your eyes turning away from God. In our original scripture we see that the children of Israel were going thru something far worse than what we are going thru. There have been many to go thru things that are far worse than what we are going thru. We are warned that all of those negative things can begin to control us. It’s dangerous to allow despair to take control. We should be very careful with the information that we have. We should not stick our heads in the sand and ignore what’s going on. God’s purpose is always good. So here we see in the scripture that once they were hit with despair, they simply sat down and cried. God is NOT out of control. Don’t be drawn into the devil’s snares. We should be listening to what God is trying to tell us. God is not in despair, He’s not worried, He wasn’t surprised, etc. Don’t be despaired! The children of God were famous for their songs, their talents were all tied to the temple. However, their temple at this time was afar off. They became depressed and just sat down and lost their engagement. Now we know that God doesn’t dwell in a building, He dwells in the heart. Stop depending on the pastor for your feed. We’ve not met in about 2 weeks so God has stripped away the building excuse. Have you felt the Spirit move? The children of Israel just gave up because their perspective was earthly. So what are you doing, sitting on your phone, watching movies, playing games? He’s stripped all of the “stuff” away and now it’s just you and Him. Do you love Him as much as you said you do? Do you pray like you need to? Do you pray when you’re supposed to? Do you just wait to pray only when you’re asked? The fear is that some of you are on vacation spiritually. Check yourself... If there was no church, how spiritual would your house be? Back in the scripture we see in verse 3 that the people that took them captive wanted them to sing. There are people all around us that want a happy song. They want the good news. These people just gave up. They didn’t want to sing because they were depressed in their situation. Their perspective was earthly. If you’re different at home than you are in a church building... What are you teaching others? Psalm 137:4, if you leave your depression unchecked you’ll quickly find yourself over ran by the devil. You’ll become ungrateful and ill. These children of God couldn’t see past their current situation. Have you become dependent upon someone else for your feeding? We make all kinds of excuses why we can’t worship God but He has stripped away ALL excuses. Have you grown dependent on the pastor, worship leaders or someone else to truly worship God? Do you really have a relationship with Christ, have you been saved? Have you taken for granted that we can only worship on certain days? If we didn’t send the videos out would you really be engaged? The real voice of God is challenging us and your personal inventory. You know if you need to deal with things that are not His.

Running From Fear
1 Peter 2:13-17 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
We are to serve God first and foremost because in the end, that is what we are judged by. Paul wasn’t afraid to stand against men for God’s namesake. Many a times he was beat for standing up! God raises countries and puts them down. He is able to raise a governor or a president to make control. Now their might be greed in the political system but in the end, God is still in control. Our governor asked our churches to not meet due to trying to stop the spread of this virus. It is in protection and should be followed. Should we then sit in fear? No! We’ve changed the way we worship temporarily. God has slowed this nation to a crawl and He is able to bring us out of this. Now there was a time when Elijah stood and watched the prophets of Baal cried out, cut themselves and called out to something that wasn’t there. There is not other god other than the ONE that created this place and you. Elijah encouraged them to continue with their worship to this false god. He then, during a drought, gathered gallons of water and prayed to God to prove Himself. Fire came from heaven and licked up ALL of the water proving that God is in full control and is the only one. The world we live in might seem out of control. We can’t control what's happening around us. Now you might be a Christian and sitting in your home wringing you hands, worrying about what is going to happen. Take heart, if God loves the little birds then He loves you! Be encouraged! This is something different, it might get people out of their boxes of comfort and cause them to come to Jesus. Now Elijah ran from his problems and a lot of people will hide in this circumstance. Elijah ran as far as he could go. Now you might be worried about your job, food, health, but rest assured God loves you and will help you thru all of this. God sent an angel to Elijah and this angel took care of Elijah. We don’t know how hard this journey will be but know that God takes care of His children. He will not depart, He’s always right there with you. Once you’ve ran to the end of your road, hit that brick wall then you WILL call out to a higher being, God. Man will create fear, panic, and chaos but God is not in none of that! Elijah was in a cave and was calling out to God asking Him to speak to him. Many thing happened but God wasn’t in them but in a still small voice God spoke from the back of the cave. He was there all along. God asked him what are you doing here? Elijah was worried and explained to God like He didn’t know what was going on. God told Elijah, get down from the mountain, you have no idea what I’ve done. He had no sense of the worrying and to go do His work by preaching His word. So what are you doing during this time? Are you sitting around at the house taking a vacation from God? Sitting a worrying? God will use this for His good. God is showing everyone that we all are sin sick. He’s called His people to stand firm on His word. He has a greater purpose! Be supportive and pray for one another. Pick that bible up and read it. Some have prayed for more time with God, now you have it, take it and use it! It’s a great opportunity to feed yourself. Many of people are too dependent upon the preacher to feed them. Pick up the Word of God and feed yourself!

A Warning Of Holiness
Acts 5:1-11 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
People are not perfect. Thus, within the church there are those that say they are saved but yet they are horribly lost. The church today is still under attack from inside and outside of the church. God can judge of sin instantly. God is a very merciful god. Many of times we should have been taken home because we deserved it. Once we are born we are born into a relationship with our flesh. Once a saved person dies that flesh will be left behind. The flesh has a desire to constantly work against the Spirit Of God. In this story we see that their were a couple that went out to deceive the church by lying. God was about to prove to the church that He is all powerful and He will not tolerate foolish sin. Sin will break your fellowship with Him, it destroys the church and all it touches. God has the power to do whatever He wants whenever He wants to, and yet we continue to tempt Him during our lives. One can’t pull the wool over Gods eyes. He knows everything! Every time you allow the flesh to win, you allow sin into your life. God should rule over your flesh. Sin is sin no matter what it’s called or categorized. The punishment for sin is death. God can stop the sin instantly by taking care of it and He it just to do so. So do people die because they’ve sinned? Sure, but no one knows that but God. One commandment that was given by God that states that if one honors their parents they would live long. Other than that, God places a line that no person will cross regardless of a sin or just life in general. We should have a certain fear of God. God holds the very breath in His hand and we should fear that. God is just and He is the creator of each and everything. We should never start playing a game with the creator because we have nothing to bargain with. God chastens His children. He knows exactly what it takes to get our attention when we’ve begun to stray away from Him. As a Christian is should bother us if we do not please God. Some people are so stubborn that God has to chasten us to the point of putting them in a hospital bed before they realize they need to submit to Him. 1 Cor 3:9-15 God is not deceived and He knows exactly what you think, live, say and do and yet you still go against Him. 1 Cor 3:16-17 If your a Christian you should know already that God wants you to be in His church and to be holy. So if a Christian goes against God when He’s trying to build up His church, your life as you know it will be destroyed. He does not have to tolerate, love, or care for you and yet He does thru grace and mercy. Make no mistake that He never has to and can rightly judge any and all however He chooses.
