Scripture: Matthew 7:21-27

We all have a house that we are trying to build. As a Christian, we should be building our house in Jesus Christ. A lost person builds their house in the world with worldly things. The difference between the two is that the Christians house is built on a firm foundation that will stand the test of time. The lost builds their house in the sands of the world that will pass away in the end, a total loss.

Satan will give you a house to keep you content in your life. Monday thru Saturday you can live like a hellion and then Sunday live like a Christian. A Christian can’t live this way for God lives in their lives and keeps them.

A lost person can try their very best to create their own foundation. You can give your very best to the world yet something will still be missing. Alcohol, drugs, sex, partying, fishing, hunting, etc can all be placed in that missing piece. These things all go away and the hole is still there. When you’re saved the hole is filled with Jesus. Those things of the world, God takes away and replaces them with Jesus. He is all you will ever need or want.

The foundation of salvation is the most precious object ever made. Jesus Christ was sent as the ultimate sacrifice. In the beginning, we looked to what we thought was the perfect sacrifice. Bulls, goats, sheep, birds, etc were all used as sacrifices yet the sin was still there. Those things couldn’t take the sins away forever. Those things were used often to try to cover the sins. When Jesus came and gave His life as a sacrifice for our sins, it was forever and perfect.

There will be a fire that will be sent that you will have to go through. This fire is to purify, to burn the things out of your life that is worldly. These things are things that you don’t need to be a part of. Yet, if you are saved you will still have a house of Christ that the fire can’t burn. Without salvation, your house will be burnt and destroyed and you’ll be left empty-handed.

In the children’s story of the three little pigs, we know the story of them. One pig built his house out of straw. When the wolf came he blew his house down. The next pig built his house out of sticks and stubble. When the wolf came he blew his house down. The third pig was smart and built his house out of bricks. When the wolf came there and blew, he couldn’t get his house to fall. Just in our own lives, the wolf is Satan and he huffs and puffs knocks, and blows. He wants your life destroyed. He’ll tell you not to listen to the songs of glory, the preaching, and the love of Christ. Don’t let the devil lie to you cause once you get saved you will want to be with other Christians, singing God’s songs of worship, loving the word of God, and wanting more of it all.
