Scripture: Hebrews 11:28-30

Six fruits of faith.

In the first two parts, we covered 4 of the six fruits of faith, commitment, resolve, hope, and courage.

Obedience
We often think of obedience as something that is made to do. Real obedience is a product of faith. Moses believed God and since he believed Him so much he obeyed Him. If someone doesn’t believe in God then they will not obey Him. We need this fruit of faith in our churches today. If God says it, do it. If Noah didn’t believe in God then he would have never built the ark. There is no absence of God in this world. One can find God everywhere now. Abraham and Ruth wanted a child. God told Abraham that he would have a child. He believed God but Ruth laughed at what God said. Ruth didn’t believe in God. Throughout the scripture there are mandates, things we are to do and not do. We struggle with the smallest of things that we are to do. It’s not a foreign concept that you’ll reap what you sow. God isn’t in Heaven cracking His whip. His love is beyond compare. God told Saul to go into the city and destroy everything. Saul didn’t obey God and kept what he thought were the good things. Once Saul was caught he began to backtrack and blame other things and people. 1 Samuel 15; we all have an opportunity to obey God.

Confidence
We don’t know where they actually crossed the Red Sea. There are many speculations about its exact location but what we do know is that there was a wall of water on one side and a wall of water on the other. They crossed through these walls of water on dry ground and not muddy. When they got to the other side God closed the walls of water and killed the soldiers that were quickly approaching.
2 Timothy 1; if you don’t have faith then you can’t have confidence. Abraham didn’t have hope yet he had confidence. Romans 4; he believed that he was able to perform, this is confidence. God has made promises to us that we have a hard time believing in that he actually made good on them. Genesis 22; Abraham after being told to sacrifice his promised son woke up early. Most of us would want to procrastinate as long as possible. When they had got to the top of the mountain his son asked Abraham where the sacrifice was at. Abraham with confidence replied that God would provide it. The Christian needs great confidence today.

A result of faith is victory. One of the victories a Christian has is through faith they are saved and at the time of death, Heaven is the victory. The heart of a victory is God. There is nothing in your life that God can’t handle, but we must believe. 1 John 5:4; victory over the world is through our faith.
