The Bible – Jesus

We should be reminded that the Bible is not just a book. The Bible as we know it is Jesus. It’s not the words of Jesus or about Jesus, it IS Jesus. The Bible is the closet we will have here on this earth to Jesus. If you leave Jesus in the car all week long and then you grab it from your back seat for Sunday church, Jesus doesn’t mean much to you. We find ourselves a bit spoiled knowing that a Sunday school teacher studied and taught you the scripture. We are spoiled to think that a preacher would submit himself to God to feed you without you having to pick up Jesus through the week. We should be challenging whether we truly love Jesus or not if we never search for Him in the scriptures.

 

John 1:1-2

Jesus and the Word are two in the same. As far back as you can go, think, or imagine, God was there. In Genesis we see that God created the earth and all things, God was before that. Over 6000 years ago before the beginning of time, the Word was there. God was there therefore Jesus was there also. One can’t separate the two, Jesus and the Word of God. Do you need Jesus? You say you do yet you never pick Him up during the week until Sunday. 

 

1 John 5:7

Any time you say the Word you can say, Jesus.

 

John 17:5

Jesus Himself stated He was with us before the world was formed.

 

John 1:3

This is not just a book, it is alive, it is Jesus.

 

Creation

Psalm 33:6 – The Word explains what God did. In Genesis God spoke and everything was created.

Isaiah 44:24 – The Word 

Jeremiah 51:15 – The creator of the word yet the Word itself framed the world.

Colossians 1:15 – By Him, all things were created.

Hebrews 1:17 – The Heavens are the work of His hands.

Hebrews 11:3 – The world was framed by the Word of God.

1 John 1:1-2 – Jesus Christ is the word of life.

 

John 1:4

John 14:6 – Jesus told us that He is the life.

John 6:63 – The Word is the life.

John 8:12 – Jesus told us that He is the light.

Psalm 119:105 – The Word is the light.

 

You would never leave someone in the back of your car for a week. If you wanted a relationship with someone you wouldn’t want to not talk to them. We meet every Sunday morning at 9:30am to study and to learn more about Jesus. If you’re excusing yourself from the learning of Jesus then do you really love Him?

 

Revelation 19:15 – When Jesus comes back with a sword out of His mouth.

Hebrews 4:12 – The Word is a sword.

 

Which side are you on? Are you on the cut that is of the darkness or are you of the cut that is of the light? The sword will divide the very thoughts of your heart. Nothing has the power to discern your heart but the Bible. Why don’t you want to read it? Because it exposes the things that we are not comfortable with.

 

The Bible is Jesus. The Bible should not be enshrined as an object of our faith. We should be respecting the Bible not worshipping it. Stop using it as an object. If it’s something you need when you’re in trouble, you’re using it for the wrong purpose.
