Scripture: 2 Timothy 4:1-8

Not only do we need to pray but we also need to do. So, not only do we need to Pray Until Something Happens but we also need to Press Until Something Happens. Many churches out there have a wonderful concert before the service with many people that have great talents. Then a person gets up and feeds to flock a message that’s just a feel-good message. One can get an emotional feel-good from the music but if that feel-good didn’t come from the Spirit of God then it’s just a human reaction.

Did you know that God is waiting on us to do some work? We ought to be doing the work that He’s called us to do. What are you doing?

John 9; doing the work of the Father. Jesus was always doing something for His Father. No matter where He went He was working for God.

1 Corinthians 15:58; we all have work to do. Work will NOT get anyone into Heaven.

John 17; God gave Jesus work to do and He finished it on the cross.

Abraham did the work that God called him to do. When God told him to take his son Izaak up to the mountain and offer him up as a sacrifice, Abraham did the work. Izaak laid himself down on the altar without a word as his father drew his knife. Right before Abraham went down with the knife his hand was stopped. Abraham did something that others couldn’t do but he did the work.

Personal

A woman had an issue with her blood. Yet she heard about Jesus and Him being in her town. She made her mind up that all she had to do was to touch the hem of Jesus’ garment so she could be made whole. She pressed herself through the crowd even though she was so weak and feeble. She had an obstacle to overcome but she pressed through it. Just like her, keep pressing until you get to Jesus.

Zacchaeus was a person that everyone despised. He was of a very short stature. He spotted a sycamore tree and climbed it just to see Jesus. He pressed himself up that tree just to see Him.

There is a personal part that you must overcome in order to press toward Jesus. That might mean you will have to get rid of something in your life that you might enjoy. Whatever that is it won’t mean anything at the time of your death. Your flesh won’t want to let it go.

Somebody else

A crippled man that couldn’t get around. He had several friends that cared deeply for their friend. They heard that Jesus was in town so the man’s friends carried him to Jesus. They got to the house where Jesus was and it was too crowded to get into Him. So they carried him to the rooftop and dug, pried, pulled, and tore the roof off. They then lowered their friend down through the hole they made to Jesus. This man’s friends pressed until they got their friend to Jesus. Many of us would have given up once we saw the crowd. They could have waited until the crowd cleared. Jesus stood and spoke all while the roof pieces fell all around Him. He didn’t stop or stop them until the man was lowered in front of Jesus. The end result was that the man was healed and the friends left blessed as well.

We can’t be just a hearer. We must do just as much as we hear. Do you know what you need to do? Maybe you need to be doing the first step, pray until something happens. Once you pray then God will tell you what to do. Then you need to press until something happens.
