Scripture: 1 Samuel 16:1-13

One must simply surrender unto God if one wants to live a winning life. You have to yield unto God. He has a better plan. God can take the lemons of life and turn them into lemonade. You might be thinking you’ve got it all under control. Yet we oftentimes make a much larger mess of things because we don’t know the future. There are choices we make and then there are consequences to them. Hopefully, you realize that bad things can happen because of someone else’s choices.

Peter made a real mess of things right up to the crucifixion of Christ. He denied Him three times. A woman that was just about to be stoned to death for the choices that she had made. She was guilty. The woman at the well had five husbands and the one she was living with wasn’t even her husband. Guilty. The woman with an issue of blood. Zacchaeus, blind Bartimaeus, to each and every one of these people, God had a better plan.

Grief. We all go through it. There is nothing wrong with grief until it starts to control you. Misery and mourning are also other things that can control you if you let them. Husbands and wives all have a choice to make to stay with each other. One choice can take one from the other. The sins of the world, the addictions can take you down a road where you’ll feel like there is no way out.

The problem with most is that we don’t want God to help us. God has a better plan. When God tells you what to do, you better listen and do. To experience the good stuff that comes from God one must surrender and submit. We all have tough choices to make. They are only tough when we decide to make the decision and leave God out of it.

How many times have you looked at a person and thought they’d be the right person for the job? Once they begin with the job it was a bad thought to think it would work. God is the only one that knows if a person can do the job or not because He knows the future and the person’s capability.

The good things in life do not revolve around money. This is not a prosperity message. This is a message of second chances. God knows better and has the perfect plan for your life. If you want a better life with God then there will be obstacles. However, the only one that knows how to avoid them is God Himself. Through obedience and trust in God, those obstacles won’t be there.

Do you want to know what your purpose is? Read your Bible. God may not tell you everything but He will show you the path to take for your journey. Just as God told Samuel what to do, then told him He had picked a different king, He didn’t tell you who. If Samuel was to know God would have told him. Samuel, we, are not the planner, God is. What we don’t like is not knowing. When we try to take over God’s planning it makes us angry. We don’t know better. Samuel kept picking what he thought because he was looking at the outside. God knows the inside better than we know the outside of someone. God is always planning and it is always right and it is always good. All things work for the good of those that obey and let God.

At times you will have to stand and wait for God’s plan to unfold. We wait patiently on God. Be patient. We live in a culture of instant gratification so this might come as a struggle to some.
