Scripture: Daniel 5:17-31

Power in a person often ends in great pride and a horrible doom. In this story we see that Belshazzar knew what God was capable of and who He was, however, he did what he wanted. It was at the end of his life that he was told of his wrongdoing and his life was required.

History will always prove that God is always in control. He raises men and He putts them down. Just as this there is a common ground with these three kings, Nebuchadnezzar, Belshazzar, and Darius. They all three met God, they all three also changed. They also had a common man named Daniel.

God spoke thru Daniel and told Nebuchadnezzar that God was a merciful god but he boasted how “godly” he was and he was struck down as an animal. After seven years God brought him back as a king.

Daniel was s slave and yet he remained faithful to God. He was to serve these wicked kings. All three of these kings knew there was something different about Daniel.

Darius comes in and does some historical things to take over the Persians. He became a great king in history.

Just as Daniel God is calling us to be a light and not to serve a particular king. We are to stand  They came after Daniel to over throw him but al they could find was his love for God. They tried to come against Daniel and created a law that no one was to pray to anyone but to the king, yet Daniel still prayed 3 times a day to God.

God has called us into this right now for a purpose, His plan. We just a grain of sand in the vastness of the sea. Yet God holds us special and a one of a kind.

Daniel ultimately was thrown into the den of lions even though he was being faithful to God. Darius knew Daniel’s God and told him that he was sorry but he had to follow the law. The king was worried and was troubled when he was thrown in and would eat or drink. The king was looking for something different. Daniel slept with the lions that night and was not harmed and told the king the next morning that he and the king had found favor with God.

Our job as a Christian is to show others that there is a hope in God. The God of Daniel is still alive. We are to be consistent in loving God, loving them and showing them that God loves them too.
