Scripture: Colossians 1:15-23

It doesn’t take a lot of effort to get lost. At the time that Adam and Eve sinned, they began to hide their sin and then themselves. Sin separated them from God. God found them and then sacrificed animals for their sins and cast them out of the garden. He loved them even though they had sinned against Him. God came looking for them, not the other way around. The only way to be with Christ is to get rid of your sin. Jesus came to us to offer His blood to cover and cleanse our souls of the sin that it holds.

Once Jesus comes to us and asks us if we believe, once we accept Him for His cleansing and He saves us then we must not allow the sin to come back in. The sin that we allow to come back in alienates us from Him. It removes the joy that God gives us. We must get rid of sin. Its purpose is to alienate, kill, and destroy. There is no reward for following sin. Just because we are born again doesn’t mean we have a license to sin.

Not only do we alienate ourselves from God once we sin but we also avoid other Christians. We do this because we know we ought not to live this way. The joy that our souls crave is removed from us once we begin to have sin in our backslidden lives. Our flesh is a deceiver and all it wants is selfish needs. There is a great cost in having or doing it your way and not God’s way.

There is a responsibility to live the way God has instituted. We are to mind and obey Him and it’s for our own good. It brings the joy and happiness that only God can give. Sin is a horrible cancer and infection that if we do not do anything about it, it will consume you. One can’t sow something and expect something different to grow. How many days are wasted because we spend them for our flesh? Do not compromise with sin. It will steal a greater value while it’s present. We all live with regrets and those regrets are like scars. The scars don’t hurt but they remind us of the pain and the cost of suffering. Regrets are the scars and it’s dangerous to mess around with sin. It has no respect for persons and attacks anyone.

The worst feeling is being lost and knowing it. In itself by definition that’s alienation. Being lost in the woods is something you wish you could be found yet you’re not able to do anything about it. Being lost without salvation is something tormenting because you know your life will be spent in Hell forever and you can’t do anything about it. You can only be saved when someone reaches out and helps you. Jesus offers His salvation to all the lost and it’s up to them if they’ll want to be saved.
