1 Timothy 1:18; 1 Timothy 6:12; 2 Timothy 2:1-4

There is a war going on, a battle that is being fought. You are either helping or hurting the battle. Regardless of your position the battle goes on. There is an evil day approaching. An enemy that cares for nothing and takes no prisoners. We live flippantly as if there is nothing to care about or worry about.

Ephesians 6:10
One God and only God. We have no hope without God. We can’t do it ourselves.

Introduction to the evil one
Ephesians 6:11
We must put God on. The devil cares nothing for you and wants to destroy you and everything around you. The enemy has set his sights on Christians and wants to take them all down any way he can.

Ephesians 6:12
People (flesh) are not our problem. The political parties are not our problems. The problems are the things we can not see, the spiritual powers of the evil one.

Introduction to the evil day
Ephesians 6:13
The evil day. The enemy when he comes to your “house” and you’ve taken off the protection of God, you have exposed yourself to anything that the devil wants to give you. Don’t lay down on God. Don’t think for a moment that the devil isn’t after you or your loved ones. Don’t be surprised when the enemy emerges in your life if you laid down God’s protection.

Introduction to the equipment
Ephesians 6:14-17
There is not anything that the devil can do in your life that God hasn’t protected you from. The key to the equipment is that you MUST put it on. It’s not God’s job to dress you. There’s not a middle ground between God and the devil. If you pick on then you’ve rejected the other. Most of our problem is that we want to pick what equipment we want to put on. Do you honestly think the devil doesn’t know what equipment you’ve decided not to put on?

Introduction to the energy
Ephesians 6:18
The energy and fuel to keep us going in the battle. Don’t underestimate that you pray in the Spirit. When you’re living in sin you’ve lost the fellowship between you and God. You can’t pray in the Spirit because He does not honor over sin. Where is your Spirit? Are you right with God? How about your prayer life? Have you made a commitment to pray? God says to get into your prayer closet. This is because you are to separate yourself from the world, just you and Him.
Not only are we to pray in the Spirit but we are to watch out for each other. We should care and fear for their lives if we see them begin to stray from God. When Jesus was in the garden and praying he told the disciples to watch and pray. When He returned, He found them asleep. He told them to wake up, watch and pray. We have a lot that is asleep Spiritually. While someone sleeps it’s impossible to see what’s going on around them. Adrenaline, fight or flight. When your eyes see a vehicle coming toward you, your adrenaline kicks in and causes you to react. Do you realize that when this happens it can cause you to do things that are normally impossible to do?

Introduction to the warning
Ephesians 6:19-20
If we see someone about to fall off a cliff what do we do? If danger is around we usually want to warn those that could be in that danger.

Introduction to the encouragement
Ephesians 6:21
We are not alone in this battle. We are not to be worried. No one can promise anyone another day. Stay the course, don’t give up no matter what. Throw in everything you’ve got to serve God.
