Luke 22:39-48 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
Everyday there are temptations. No matter how holy one tries they are always tempted to do wrong to fall away. We walk thru agony here on earth but if you're saved you'll leave that all behind. We should all pray earnestly, fervently for our lost to be saved and for us to stay away from temptation. We all fall into worldly pleasures because none of us are perfect as Christ was.

Where Is Your Name Written?
Luke 10:17-20 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
Now in I this scripture, the 70 men were given a certain power to do these things. None since then have been given this power. Now there are a certain faith that seems to think they can do these things but the doctrine always wins, they die. We are warned not to find our peace in things that are carnal, the healing, the miracles or even the good things that might come our way. It rains on the just just the same as the unjust. There should be an excitement when it comes to attending the house of God. One never knows what God has in store. There are four things that we should not have faith in. Super natural powers is the first one. Yes they are powerful and miraculous but they are but temporal. Baptism is also something that one should not have our full joy in. Baptism can not save a person but it's only a visual representation of being changed, saved. Church membership is not something that should not be rejoiced as being saved. A lot of folks want to join the church but offer nothing to the believers. Works is one thing that a lot of people but their stock in that will seemingly gain them access to Heaven. Gods Word is plain when it states that no one is good and your good works are as filthy rags. Many will claim they did things in Jesus name but they don't know Him. What to rejoice about. Is YOUR name written in the Lambs book of life? Being born again is a personal thing. A man written name will not get you into Heaven. A church membership book will burn up in the end. Therefore it's not of any importance. If your name is written in Heaven then someone up there had to write it and that person is God. Whatever is of God and whatever is written of God is forever.

Joy In Salvation
Psalm 51:5-12 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
The devil hates you and he has absolutely has not power over you other than the power that you give or allow him to have. We've all made poor choices and we will get the consequences from those choices. Gods love towards us is NOT based upon what we have done or have. If you die and have NO salvation, you'll open your eyes in an eternal fire of Hell. It will not be because God didn't love you. People today are caught up in the things of this world. You can raise your hands, go thru all the motions, do all the things a Christian does but in the end those things don't amount to anything. If God does not live inside of you thru salvation then Hell will be your eternal home. Repentance is something no one wants to hear or do anymore. If you're saved then you live in the closest form of Hell while on this earth. The world needs to see joy from the Christian because that's what they are hunting for. The lost are searching and trying just about everything to bring joy to their lives. If the Christian would live like a Christian and allow God to live and work in our lives then the joy would just pour from them.

Reverence Only To God
Psalm 89:5-18 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
One should be careful of what one seems holy, worshipped. People these days seem to NEED their cell phone. People don't want to hear that we should fear God. When you truly know God then you'll have a reverence to Him. A lot of people hold a lot of things to a higher standard and those things will all burn up in the end. One can't take those things with them when they die. People come in Sunday after Sunday but they come and go the same way. It matters what we worship. There should only be one thing that is revered and that is God. Three categories should be thought on and given up one. Days and times are not to be reverenced. Six days should a person work but the seventh should be used as a day of rest and worship. Not only are days not to be reverenced but the events should also not be. There will never be a holiday more important than Jesus. Things should not be worshipped. In some religions items are used for worship, beads, crucifixes, etc. if those things are a part of your worship and keep you from worshipping if you do not have it, get rid of it. The church building itself has no power to save and therefore is not needed for God to show up. Should we respect it, honor it, keep it as clean as our own, yes-yes and yes again. But only God should be worshipped and not the building. The bible should not be worshipped. You must be careful about the Holy Word and not to let the book itself become more holy than God. There are times that you'll want to hold your bible, sleep with it, not leave its side, but in the end it's only a book. If your bible burnt to ash Jesus would still be Jesus and you could simply go out and get a new one. People should not be revered. Mary the mother of Jesus is no different than one of us and should not be higher than God. The Pope is commonly referred to as the Holy Father, His Holiness, The Rock, Supreme Pontiff, Holy of Kings, however he is no holy than the next person. The pastor of a church should also not be worshipped. When the time comes and the pastor leaves a church, some people will follow the man. Pastors will often have reverend as their title, a poor practice but they should not be reverenced. One can not worship everything and ever worship God. God is first and everything else should follow in its place. Acts 12:4, you can personally know the Pope and not know Jesus Christ and bust Hell wide open at your death.

Stay Away From Evil Things
1 Thessalonians 5:16-22 (Part of the The Need For Christian Duties series).
|People don't want to hear this saying anymore. People want to live the way they want to, however they want and whenever they want. Once you're born again you are no longer yourself but holy. How many of you have damaged your testimony because you've messed with something that you know you shouldn't had? Did you know that people are watching you whether you want them to or not? To some people the only "bible" they know is thru your life. Staying away from evil cramps people's style.
Let's just be honest for just a minute, look in the mirror and you should see a person that has problems with staying away from evil. One of the hardest things to do is to control the tongue. The scripture doesn't just apply to the preachers or deacons. It was addressed to ALL Christians.
It's very difficult to get a persons confidence back after it's been lost. You're the one that the lost is watching and taking note on your actions. Christians have been pulled out of the world and therefore shouldn't be IN the world. The lost are constantly looking for hypocrites.
One must prove it first to make sure it's of a Godly nature. Do the "smell test". Stop and take the time to evaluate prior to doing them. There is no grey area when it comes to right or wrong. The grey area is created by us that wants to feel good about doing something wrong, therefore it would classified as wrong. The power of the church is based upon the faithfulness or life of its members. Phil 4:8, there are things that should be done in front of the lost.
One can't unscramble the eggs or put the toothpaste back into the tube. What do you do if you've messed things up with your testimony/life? Change, there is an expectation that each time you attend church there should be a change. When we change the lost will see it and want to know what's the difference. We should apologize to them for acting out wrong.
