Understanding Your Moorings
Hebrews 6:17-20 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
Our anchor must be set in some thing that doesn't move. What is an anchor and how does it work. First the anchor must be tied off to a vessel. Our vessel is our soul. The anchor is only as strong as the link it's tied to. It's tied to something that is sure and the links are the Word of God. When the winds of diversity begin to blow the link is the Word of God then it will stand strong. We could be floating in the ocean of life and have the devil to sneak up behind you and blow you around, but when the anchor grabs hold of a firm foundation you'll stop and be held fast.the more that you cling to the Word the tighter the rope gets. Thinking about the hope, when the link goes over the side of your vessel your not able to see the link but just a little far and the anchor is hidden. The anchor must hook on something. If it hooks on a sandy, muddy foundation it will never grab ahold of something solid and continue to make the vessel unstable. But if the anchor grabs ahold of a firm, solid foundation then your vessel will be secure and steadfast. We need the wind, tribulations of life to keep the rope tight and keep our knowledge of the anchor. Know the anchors shape is important. Most anchors have three hooks just as a treble hook grabs a fish better. The three hooks is to represents God, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. Now the problem is that God calls out and wants the lost to throw out our anchor but a lot will refuse the call. The anchor is to be sure, accepted and truth. The anchor is also to be steadfast. Now the anchor will disappear as it goes down into the depth but this just represents the hope. Hope is something that is not seen and must be believed. So where is the anchor secured that cannot be seen? The rock represents Jesus Christ and where does Christ sit, heaven. We cannot see heaven while alive but our anchor, if we are saved, is anchored in heaven.

In the Middle
1 John 5:6-8 (Part of the Does He Abide Within? series).
Through Jesus is the only way of salvation. Do you really believe that this man called Jesus is the Son of God? Do you realize that our time, the year, is based on Jesus's birth and death? John the Baptist came from water only but Jesus didn't come from water only but by blood as well. There is nothing in the world that will define truth like Jesus Christ. There are three that bear witness of the Son of God. The Father is the first that bears witness. During the baptism of Jesus, His Father spoke down and said that Jesus was His son. God also confirmed Jesus during the transfiguration. The Word also declares Jesus as God in the flesh. The Spirit also confirms Jesus as the son of God. The Holy Spirit came down and caused Mary to be pregnant for the birth of Christ. Also during the baptism of Jesus, the Spirit of God came down and rested upon Jesus to declare that He was His son. Just as the declared Gods son, Jesus Christ there are also three in earth that bear witness with Him. The spirit which are things that can not be touched but are real, our soul, feelings, etc. if you have been saved, you have the Spirit of God in you. Jesus also had the spirit during His death as He gave up the Ghost. Just as Jesus gave up the spirit, we will as well at our death and it will go back to God. The water, baptism, also bears witness here on earth. Being baptized will not get you into heaven but it's important as an outward declaring of Christ. The last is the blood because it was shed on earth. The blood was shed because without it being shed there is no remission of sin. It also washes away our sins during salvation because no one and nothing else's blood can do this. Just as during the last supper, the wine was used to represent His blood.

Try the Spirit, Believe not Everything
1 John 3:24-4:6 (Part of the Does He Abide Within? series).
The most important thing to know is if Jesus Christ lives inside you. There seems to be a doctrine for every person out there. They take and change the Word of God for their own agenda. It's good to learn as much as you can of the Word of God but man didn't call men to preach. Only God can call a man out to preach. Some preachers are quiet, some are loud, some are short winded and some long. False prophets are running rampant in this day and time. There are cults on every corner. One doesn't need a doctrine in theology to understand the Word of God. If it doesn't stand up with the Word of God, then don't follow it. We should be open minded because we don't know all of what God has in store for us. A spirit doesn't come without a body. Spirits have to have a body to possess. When one comes to you and tries to pull you in, try its spirit to make sure in lines up with Gods Word. When you run into issues in your life and you always call your pastor with them, you're going to the wrong "friend". You need to seek God and not a friend or preacher for you help all the time. You should learn the Spirit that lives inside you and not believe every single outward spirit you hear. In order to know the false spirits you must have and KNOW you have the Spirit of God living inside you. So how do you know that He lives inside you? First off it's not about a feeling. Just because you've had goosebumps or the hair raised up on your neck doesn't mean that the Holy Spirit lives inside you. Jesus Christ was sent from His Father as a virgin birth and was crucified for our sins and rose on the third day.  If Jesus Christ didn't come to earth in the flesh then the doctrine is false. We encourage you to study the religions and their doctrines for the truth. If their entire doctrine does not line up with with the Son of God coming to earth and being crucified, then it's false and of the antichrist. Don't be troubled by the cults and false doctrines because if you are of Christ, then He is greater than those and lives inside you.

Denying Yourself
Titus 2:11-14 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
The one thing that our churches lack is prayer. Grace can't be earned and it isn't deserved. Deny ungodliness and self. We should live godly and Christ-like while here on earth. If you're waiting till the second coming to get saved, then you'll wait too long. You can't have "secret" sins.
