Sanctification
1 Thessalonians 5:12-28 (Part of the The Need For Christian Duties series).
In order to perform the Christian duties, one must be sanctified. Many will think they are doing His will but in their end, God will tell them that He never knew them.

Sanctified means, set apart. More importantly, separated from evil. The question is not about what's on the inside for if you've been saved, God dwells within. The truth is, is that the outside is flesh and it fails daily will always fail until it's made into a heavenly body.

2 Cor 6:17, a Christian should be different than the world. Heb 10:14, for a Christian the inside (soul) is what's made new, the outside remains the same. The outward is a constant battle to bring under subjection. 2 Tim 1:12, we as Christians can not keep our salvation because it wasn't us that saved us. Once we are saved, we are always saved. We as humans have plaques that trouble the flesh. Lusts of the flesh cause us as humans to fall short of His perfectness. However, we must repent of our sins when the sins are realized and pointed out by God. God has never made a mistake therefore when He saved you, it wasn't a mistake and He will not take it back. Gods word has not changed and will not change.

We should remove ourselves from the worldly things. Most don't like to step away because it sets the up to be ridiculed. How is anyone to know that a Christian is a Christian if they do the same things as a lost person? There's a lot of Christians that want to get better. The reason is because they want to bless God, He's worth it! But, serving God brings forth works and that's what the world will see. Now salvation is NOT about works, works is the result of salvation.

Titus 3:8, sanctification and works are linked because you can't have works from God until you've been sanctified. We as Christian should follow, obey and serve Him because we are in a great debt because God has paid for our sins. Please stop and make sure you're not going along with the crowd. Did you know that someone is ALWAYS watching you? Heb 10:24, you won't find a lot of talk about works in a Baptist church because it's easily confused for non believers. Just as its been said, works are the result of salvation. Works without salvation is just work and will not be recognized by Christ as works for Him in the end. Christians can't do the work of God on their own. In order to make Holy fruit, it has to start with something Holy.

Are you saved? One can't move to the next step unless they've been saved. Check your heart, have you been saved?

Are You Blessed?
Psalm 84:1-5 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
There should be something that fuels a child of God. Where is your strength? We as humans have no strength without God.

How many people want to be blessed? In these verses it refers to man which means mankind. These are grace given blessings because we didn't ask for them.

Psalm 84:5 it's not about us but all about Him.
Psalm 65:4 if you're saved then you've been chosen.
Psalm 32:2 the saved have been forgiven.
Psalm 94:12 the saved are loved thru chastening.

The following are obedience based blessings.

Psalm 34:8 we should trust in God, always. Sometimes you're gonna have to take a stand for Christ. Prov 3:5
Psalm 112:1 the word of God will bless you but you MUST study it and take it in. Wisdom is obtained by fearing God, not in fright but knowing He controls it all. Just as a child respects their parents, they learn by obedience. If the child has no respect they turn disobedient and rebellious which the outcome will often come with negative consequences.

Into Battle
1 Timothy 6:11-12 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
There isn't a time where we should lay it down and give up. We've been reminded in the past week as the devil has attacked our marriages, homes and our country. If there is a time when we should stand, it would be now. The older one gets, the more they are equipped. How are we to be equipped? If you've been saved, you've been called and equipped to to fight in Gods battle against the devil 2 Tim 2:3-4 When one enters into the Army, they go through boot camp. You'll be taught how to go into battle, never to lay down your weapon, never give up, never turn your back on the enemy. Jesus endured the ultimate battle. How many times do we allow the enemy to trip us up because we laid down? The saved has a small amount of time to do Gods work. We must be engaged in the battle for God 24/7. We, the saved, are the soldiers for God. 1 Peter 5:8 If we are the soldiers, who are the enemies? The devil is a toothless cat that can only roar and can not touch Gods soldiers. The devil only attacks from behind because he is a coward to God and His children. 1 Peter 5:9 We should be steadfast in our faith and resist the devil. The church of the US is spoilt brats because we haven't been persecuted like those in third world countries. Those in other countries must hide in order to read their bibles or face death. Eph 6:12 A lot of times we complain about things that doesn't matter which wastes valuable time. God isn't worried, so why are we? The enemy isn't your neighbor or the lost, it's the devil, a spiritual battle. Wars and battles are being fought spiritually all around us. So that man that bad mouths God, those neighbors that mock you are not the enemy. Stop trying to fight and win those battles that are in the flesh. So who is the captain? Joshua 5:14-15 Nothing and nobody can be worshipped and it be right unless it is God. Heb 2:10 If you're not serving God then you've missed it. Rev 19:11-16 God Himself is coming back and He will fight the last battle Himself. The fight we must fight is the spiritual battle. God has called us to be equipped with the Armor of God and help fight. So who are you serving? How should we fight? Mat 5:44 Love. Luke 6:27-36

Your Sin Is Not Just Your Sin
Joshua 7:10-13 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
The price or penalty of sin affects many. If sin only affected the one that sinned, then it would be a different situation. We should know what's right and wrong but there is also that lives inside of a saved person that is a moral compass. If you willing sin, you offend the Holy Spirit and judgement will be required. It's never ok to sin no matter who says it's fine. When one feels the temptation of sin we should walk away from it. One can always claim an excuse of a sin but in the end, you know it's a sin. If you are saved and you do sin, God will chastise you if forgiveness is not asked. If you are confused about whether it's right or wrong, you need to seek Gods face. Romans 6:23 plainly states what sin will get you. Sin is a temporary happiness that will quickly turn to death. The warning to us all is that sin is not joy to God. God will not turn His back while you choose to sin. Sin has and will always be a choice to us all. Your sin could affect the church, the family and even your life. When you stand before God, you will no excuse, blame or any reason to why you chose to sin. There is no other price for sin but death. You can always hide your sin from others around you but God will always know. If you have sin and bring it to the church, it can hinder and quench the Spirit from working with others. Have you ever left a church service wondering what happened to the Spirit? Did you ever ask yourself, was I the reason the Spirit left? More than likely it was someone else camping out with their sin and trying to hide it from God. God knows and will not work when sin is abound. What good is something that you must hide?
Preached by Tommy Boring on May 31, 2015 (Sunday Evening).
Reconciliation
Ephesians 2:13-19 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
Of all the things that we can think of what God has done for us, reconciliation is the last thing we normally think of. Our job is not to judge another but to simply lift up His word to all. God has removed the wall of separation between Him and us, Jews and Gentiles, men and women, etc. There is no big or little persons within the world because it's level at the foot of the cross. Clicks and crowds do not matter to God. There should never be a "spiritual racism" in regards to the name over the door of the church. Jesus didn't come for the Jews only or to the Gentiles only. Jesus came for all! As long as there is a division there can never be a unity of one. What separates each and everyone person from God? Sin. There is no big or little sin, they are all simply a sin. We are all sinners, even the saved are sinners but they are saved by grace. The only way to deal with sin is to accept Jesus Christ as your savior. There is no doubt, no question about whether God could save someone. If it wasn't for reconciliation we would still be separated from God by sin. The ONLY hope that we have is in Jesus Christ, so follow Him and give Him everything.
