Who Is Rich?
Mark 10:17-31 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
|Every adult is rich. 70% of the adult population has less than $10,000. The problem is that we like to compare what others have to ours and see that others or richer than you therefore defining your own definition of what rich means.
The reason that Jesus came was because we couldn't keep the commandments. Think about your own life, heat and cool at the touch of a button. Hot water by the turn of a switch. So these things that you "own" surely since you own them you can keep them forever. At the time of your death, what will you take with you? All the belongings in your life will be left behind and nothing will be taken with you when you die.
Going to a third world country we see and compare what they have versus us. The comparison is not fair because it's based upon our current lifestyle. If one would stop and ask them if they are poor they would surely say they are not.
Billionaires wish they were happier at times but they seemingly have everything they could ever want. What does it profit a man to have everything but die with with a lost soul. Here on this earth you could have all the riches in the world but die lost and have nothing. A saved person can live on this earth with nothing to their name and die and be the richest person for eternity.
In today's time it's difficult to call to the sinner because they think they have everything they need. Can a rich person be saved? Yes, but they must put their riches away, they can't put their trust in them. A man can't worship two gods. People that trust in riches have no need for a savior because they put their trust in their riches. If you've got anything in this life, rejoice over it. Each time you can turn the water on, rejoice! With every egg you eat, rejoice! With each minute you work, rejoice!
You came into the world naked and empty handed, you will also leave this world naked and empty handed no matter what you own or know. How rich are you? If you don't have Christ, salvation, then you are as poor as poor can be.

Matthew 16:24-27 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
Thinking about profits. The rough definition of what a profit is, it's what left over after giving. A business can not survive without a profit. At the end of your life your profits will be examined. If you owned everything in the world, would it benefit you at death? Think about the things you trade for peace. It's hard to value a profit when you can't understand the cost up front. Your soul is so valuable that God sent His only son to be sacrificed for it. Did you know that when you travel to other countries, our American money means nothing to them? Just the same, when you die, what you owned here on earth means nothing to death, heaven and hell. When God comes to you and calls your name, He's asking you to be saved. He is offering you something that nothing else can give or offer to you. If you accept His offer He will give you "the world", peace, forgiveness, love, joy and ticket to heaven. There is a cost to accepting His offer. It will cost you everything that you treasure. The more you treasure, the harder you life will be until you put God first. So if a man were to gain or own the entire world and lose his soul, what did he profit?

Are You A Member Of The Kings Court?
Matthew 13:44 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
If we are saved then a treasure abides deep inside our soul. Great wealth can not by your salvation. When you're at your time at death you will want to buy life, but only God holds life. If you have Gods treasure the you'll want to share it with others. Why does everyone in the entire world believe in Christ? Because the god of this world, satan has blinded them. You've probably heard that salvation is free, but it's not. It's free in the sense that money can't buy it. But it cost God His only Son. You will have to sell all that you have, spiritually speaking, to be saved. You must sell out to Christ, give up the things of this world and give Him ALL of yourself.

Instant results are expected in today's time. If we lack patience it's our fault for not growing up. Has God ever failed you? It's just not fair that all these rich people live for the devil and gain everything. We worry and stress because we don't see results immediately. Tribulation works patience, patience works experience, experience works hope and hope makes us not ashamed.
