Wrestling With God
Genesis 32:22-32 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
Life brings forth tough things that people must go through. Most of the time when you've done something wrong and you run from it, hiding, thinking that no one will find out. No matter the circumstances, we will all reap what we've sown. Many people run and run until they finally get to the end of the trail forcing them to make a decision. Some will run and will make their choice to turn away from their sin and run towards God, while others make their choice to continue in their sin knowing they should stop and turn away. The consequences to continuing in sin is a dreadful end, death at times. If you're one of Gods, a Christian and you've turned a deaf ear towards God, He will grab ahold of you until you break. He does this because He loves you just as a caring parent loves a disobedient child. Did you know you can pray a prayer telling God that you won't let go of God until He blesses you? God wants us to give up on ourselves and rely solely on Him.
Preached by Tommy Boring on January 21, 2018 (Sunday Evening).
There's Life In the Water
1 Kings 18:35-39 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
We need to get on fire for God. Mediocrity is death. We need to let go of our indifference and let God. Life is in the water. Elijah was bringing life back to the altar. There's nothing God did t take that He won't restore. When we sacrifice what separates us from God on the altar, life is given in return. There's life at the altar. God switches our sacrifice and surrender for restoration and life. There's no life anywhere but in God. God is the source of water and wastes nothing. He is the resource. The altar is where faith is proven. It's the place where things are real. There's water all over the altar. Everything you love most is in the altar and in all these things there is life. The most important thing you could have in you altar , it's what the drought stricken world doesn't have and you can have all the water you need everyday. Why won't you go to the altar? Because the hard part is the preparation for prayer. The willingness to surrender. We aren't waiting on God; He's waiting on us. You'll never be able to go to the altar of God and not leave unchanged. But we have to bring our best. We cannot have sin and expect God to accept our sacrifice.

Prone To Roam
(Part of the Miscellaneous series).
We are all like sheep wondering away from the Shepherd. The Shepherd doesn't leave the sheep, the sheep stray from the Shepherd. But keep in mind, we are not alone as other sheep stray as well. A lot of times we don't realize that we have wondered. We are walking and feeding and don't look up to make sure we haven't strayed from the Shepherd. Once we go astray we should listen for the shepherd's voice. Like sheep we have no self defense without the shepherd's protection. The Shepherd will leave the safe guarded flock to hunt for the wondering one. Do you want a pasture to eat in? Do you want protection? Do you want joy?
Preached by Tommy Boring on December 27, 2015 (Sunday Evening).
Contending for the Faith
Jude 1:3-4 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
We often treat our bibles as a spare tire, only pulling them out when we are flat in the spirit. Psalm 11:3 If the foundations be destroyed what can the righteous do? Our culture wants to destroy God. If you work for Christ you will be labeled as different. The Word of God will never be destroyed. The world has rejected the the beginning of everything around us. The world will tell you that it was an explosion that created everything. The world claims that we crawled out of the world, turned into a monkey and then ultimately evolving into a human. The world doesn't want a God in their lives because it makes them accountable to a conviction. So what to we do to keep the foundation sure? Stand! Stand up for God! You as a Christian should remember that God is truth and everything else is a lie. We should all get a good education but if isn't of God, then it WILL fail in the end. How can anyone figure that a rock or the earth is a billion years old? Making an assumption about something can never end in a declared truth. Many believe that abortion is ok but, the Word of God declares that it's murder. Any type of sex outside of the bonds of marriage is fornication and is labeled the same as homosexuality and is a sin. Just because you love someone doesn't mean that you've rewritten the Word of God for your own life. The main reason why many can't contend for the faith is because people they do not know the truth, they do not study their bibles. Sunday school is a great way of learning the bible and training to contend for the faith. You not only have to know the truth but you must also know the difference. We also need to know the need. You can't take a position if you don't know the need. The people that are out there living in sin are not the enemy, they are simply lost. We have been challenged to take the Word of God to those people. We should never get angered at someone that's lost because they are only living what the world has taught them. Imagine being told that everything that you've been taught and believe is all a lie. How would you feel? All of the attacks that come from the world, it will not end. Not only will it not end, it will get worse and worse. We must take a stand and say, we are following God no matter what. When the going gets tough, look up, look to Christ.

Afraid of Worship
(Part of the Miscellaneous series).
When was the last time you went into His chamber and danced? When do you go into His court and simply praise Him? Sell out to God and you'll find something greater than the world. How can you get enough of God out of one service to not want to come back on Sunday and Wednesday nights? When we look on every corner we've all got problems and the enemy stands against us, but God is for us and nothing can stand against God. Praise God for that! Seems like people back in the day were more apt to shout for God. When we step into the church house we step into a place of holiness. If shouting embarrasses you, you might be in the wrong place. Heaven will be full of shouting. We should all get to the point where the "can't help it"'s take over. We worry about things when we shouldn't. Nothing can touch you until it goes through God first. Sunday's are not the only time to rest and experience God. We can all experience God at anytime that we lay ourselves down and lift up His name. What hinders us is others and what they may think of us.
