Just In Spite Of
Romans 7:18-8:8 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
There will be times in a Christians life when the devil will throw your past in your face. You're flesh craves the bad things, what the devil gives and reminds. A weapon that can be used to fight the devil against your past is that God has cast your past sinful life as far as the east is from the west. Satan can not condemn you of something that Christ has removed. A saved person can not stay in sin. They may linger in sin but, in the end a decision must be made. Those that are lost walk in sin and will not and can not please God. The best part of it all, 1 John 2:1-2 you will never walk alone if you're saved. Attending church is not something you have to do, it's something you should want to do. Are you wondering where God is in your life? Has it been awhile since you've felt God?
Preached by Bruce Whitehead on August 10, 2016 (Wednesday).
Wait Patiently
Psalm 40:1-3 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
All of our faith is waiting on the Lord. There are a lot of times that we give up too soon. Does God answer prayers? If you've walked with Him any amount of time then you'll know that God answers prayers. If God has made a promise to you, it WILL come true. Most of the time when we pray, it requires some faith, thus patience. Should one pray for patience if it brings on trouble? It wouldn't require faith if we didn't have to wait for our answers from God. At times we do worry and stress over waiting. Don't jump ahead of what God is going to do. We can have rest while we are waiting. Have you ever felt like things were just falling apart. Patience is the hinge that everything hangs on, it's needed. Patience means hope. Patience doesn't come easy. Our hope is anchored by patience knowing that God will do all that He promised.
Preached by Tommy Boring on October 2, 2013 (Wednesday).
Sin, The Destroyer
Romans 6:23 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
To know what Christ did for us, we must first look at where He brought us from. We usually try to water down sin or being in it. Being in sin is being dead. Sin is a destroyer of life. We often treat sin as a sickness that we will eventually recover from. No one can handle sin. Sin is something that you should be afraid of. Sin is something that shouldn't be played with. Gods standards are the same today as they were when He first established them. Some will say that one should follow their heart, but God says otherwise. Once sin gets a foothold, it will destroy your family you and anything it touches. We should be asking God to mold you and doing what He tells you to do. We can not do it on our own without sinning and sin destroying us. One can't live in sin and serve God too. God is righteous and loving just as parents are loving to their children, He will chastise His children because He loves them. Gods wrath will be shown if you continue in sin and not repent. The only thing that can separate someone from God is sin. Christ went through Gods wrath for our sin. He loved us so much that He took ALL sin upon Himself. That alone is enough to thank Him and rejoice in His love for us. Just as sin is a destroyer, the love of Christ is life forever.
Preached by Lucas Boring on July 31, 2013 (Wednesday).
