Back To Bethel
Luke 10:38-42 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
It takes a lot of different people to keep the church moving. But if we allow our duties to overtake our spiritual needs, we've missed the mark. We should always give God the first, the best, not the leftovers. The enemy seems to want to keep us so busy that we have no time for God. He keeps us constantly into debt to make us feel as that we must work constantly to make the payments. If you do not KNOW the Word of God and have excused yourself of learning it, then you have sinned. We should all want to be closer to God than what we are. The devil wants you to believe that his lies are all good. If you don't want to be near God, then you won't be near Him. You must persistent to seek God and push your way through the devils traps to get to Him. The important place for God is that we connect with Him. All that God wanted to begin with was for us to be close to Him.
Preached by Tommy Boring on January 19, 2014 (Sunday Morning).
The Cost of Serving Jesus
2 Samuel 24:24 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
Anything of great value has a cost. Anything that we give to God it must be of great value. Are you giving God your first best or your second leftovers? Do you agree that everything you have came from God? God is looking for a commitment. But unless you realize that it's of great value, it will not be a commitment. The world wants a feel good message not a truthful message of rejection. Simply writing a check of high money is not of great value to God. You must love the things around you less than the love that you must have for Christ. God doesn't accept your second best. With Sunday being the first day of the week, it's the first therefore the best. If you don't love Jesus more than everything else in your life you better get on your knees. One can't be a disciple of Jesus if you only want to serve Him in part. If you think it's easy to serve God, you've been tricked. Jesus himself stated that if one decides to follow Him, they would be persecuted for His name. Are you giving God your all?
Preached by Tommy Boring on November 3, 2013 (Sunday Evening).
Supporting The Called Man Of God
Acts 20:22-28 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
Are you warning others of their eternal death? The office of the pastor should be prayed over for support and strength. Pastors should take time out of their life to study the Word. Some will take the call of their family to preach the Word. Preaching is rightfully dividing the Word. Supporting the pastor starts with listening to what he is preaching. The sower is the messenger, preacher of the Word, the seed is the Word and the ground is us. If one is working for God, then they WILL be offensive because the Word is sharper than a two edged sword. Preaching isn't a hobby, it's a life. Being a pastor isn't a person called duty, it's God called. The pastor needs a church just as much as the church needs the pastor. If the pastor is the messenger of God, should we not respect him? If one does not respect the pastor, then they've disrespected God. God doesn't call the enabled, He enables the called.
Preached by Jeff Patton on September 22, 2013 (Sunday Evening).
What's Trust Got To Do With It?
Hebrews 11:6-8 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
Without faith it is impossible to please Him. Most religions are based on works faith is the opposite of works. How would you react to fear? The fear of The Lord is wisdom. Are you motivated by fear? Something's in life you do not have to be motivated by fear in order to do them. God wants to bless us but we stay depressed and are unwilling to trust God and believe Him.
Preached by Tommy Boring on August 11, 2013 (Sunday Evening).
"This Is Gonna Hurt Me Worse Than It's Gonna Hurt You"
Exodus 20:12 (Part of the God's Top Ten series).
Life brings forth experience and experience brings forth knowledge. If you can't act correctly in your earthly home, then you're not going to act correctly in your spiritual home. You should have a relationship with your parents. If you can't understand authority then it will follow you for the rest of your life. If you think it, your Heavenly Father knows about it. The promise to honoring your parents is that you will live longer and be blessed. Parents, you must love and chasten.
Preached by Tommy Boring on September 19, 2012 (Wednesday).
