Sanctification
1 Thessalonians 5:12-28 (Part of the The Need For Christian Duties series).
In order to perform the Christian duties, one must be sanctified. Many will think they are doing His will but in their end, God will tell them that He never knew them.

Sanctified means, set apart. More importantly, separated from evil. The question is not about what's on the inside for if you've been saved, God dwells within. The truth is, is that the outside is flesh and it fails daily will always fail until it's made into a heavenly body.

2 Cor 6:17, a Christian should be different than the world. Heb 10:14, for a Christian the inside (soul) is what's made new, the outside remains the same. The outward is a constant battle to bring under subjection. 2 Tim 1:12, we as Christians can not keep our salvation because it wasn't us that saved us. Once we are saved, we are always saved. We as humans have plaques that trouble the flesh. Lusts of the flesh cause us as humans to fall short of His perfectness. However, we must repent of our sins when the sins are realized and pointed out by God. God has never made a mistake therefore when He saved you, it wasn't a mistake and He will not take it back. Gods word has not changed and will not change.

We should remove ourselves from the worldly things. Most don't like to step away because it sets the up to be ridiculed. How is anyone to know that a Christian is a Christian if they do the same things as a lost person? There's a lot of Christians that want to get better. The reason is because they want to bless God, He's worth it! But, serving God brings forth works and that's what the world will see. Now salvation is NOT about works, works is the result of salvation.

Titus 3:8, sanctification and works are linked because you can't have works from God until you've been sanctified. We as Christian should follow, obey and serve Him because we are in a great debt because God has paid for our sins. Please stop and make sure you're not going along with the crowd. Did you know that someone is ALWAYS watching you? Heb 10:24, you won't find a lot of talk about works in a Baptist church because it's easily confused for non believers. Just as its been said, works are the result of salvation. Works without salvation is just work and will not be recognized by Christ as works for Him in the end. Christians can't do the work of God on their own. In order to make Holy fruit, it has to start with something Holy.

Are you saved? One can't move to the next step unless they've been saved. Check your heart, have you been saved?

Because He Is Worth It
Hebrews 13:7 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
A Christian leader is one that leads by example and by respect. Great Christian leaders that have led by examples is Henry Webb. He lived almost 3.5 miles away from the church and would walk to the church house each and every time the doors were open. He walked thru all kinds of elements because God was worth it to him. A faithful member. The sad truth is that today, most have a problem getting out of bed when it's cold outside even though our vehicles are heated as well as the church. People are watching whether you want them to or not.

Henry Webb's obituary: "Henry Webb was born June 29, 1904, and departed this life Dec. 2, 1989, being 84 years, 5 months, and 3 days of age.

Henry professed faith in Christ and joined the New Providence Primitive Baptist Church on November 9, 1969, and was baptized November 16, 1969.

He was a very faithful member of his church and loved it and the people of the church.

He labored in the building of the New Providence Church both in the first building and in the present building, the church was his life as long as he was able to attend."

We should examine ourselves to make sure that what we show to the world is a godly life. God needs leaders in His church. Are you willing to be a leader? Are you able to? You must first be able before you can be a leader.

Rules of Gift Giving
2 Corinthians 9:6-8 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
The gift of God is simply, John 3:16. He gave the unspeakable gift. Beginning from the last, everything comes from God. Not one person has anything unless it comes thru God first. We as humans are selfish creatures by nature. God wants to give you His undeserved love. Many holidays come and go and they revolve around giving, however we should be a giver everyday. If you're judging the gift by its size then you've missed the point. One doesn't give because of self, one gives because they are loved. We've been given the greatest gift, love, that it should cause one to give it back.

There should be a time when you've found yourself in want. Bills to pay, missing food on the table or even gas to fuel the car. During that time, God might come to you and ask you to give to someone else. Now money is not something that can be controlled and many of billionaires worry about it till they die.

One point to be a good giver is to give abundantly and not sparingly. Just as sowing seeds, one doesn't plant one seed expecting hundreds of plants.

Point two, give purposely. One should purpose in their heart to love God and to pray for the need or gift. God knows the need and therefore we should obey what He tells us to give.

The third point is to give freely. This doesn't mean to smile while you gift it. Without a grudge or necessity. If it bothers you to give then you're giving wrongly.

If how you give is based on how you feel at the moment then the devil will talk you out if it every time. God tries to teach His lesson on giving by your obedience. When God tells you to give, give without question. No matter how much one gives, one can NEVER out-give Gods giving. We give because if we sow it, we will reap it as long as it's done by the above three points. The second reason is because God loves a cheerful giver. Wouldn't we all want to please God? Now when the offering was being taken, God is always watching. He knows what's in your pocket, He knows what's in your heart and He knows what He told you. It's not about how much is put it but why it was put in. Our church does not tell you how much to give because an amount is not biblical in today's time. The Old Testament explain a tenth but the New Testament explains that it's based on what God tells you to give and what you're willing to give. If you're worried about giving then you're worried about the wrong thing. 2 Cor explains that always God will take care of all needs.

The Emblem of Deliverance and the Provider
Exodus 17:8-16 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
Shepherds usually had a staff, a stick. Exodus 3:4 tells a story of Moses experiencing a bush that was on fire but wasn't consumed by it. The burning bush being God told Moses to take his shoes off because he was on holy ground. Just today, we should condition ourselves for the presence of God.

Thinking about the staff of Moses, God used this staff as a proof. Exodus 4 explains that this staff was the rod of God. This rod was powerful tool of God that was used as the beginning of the plaques, turned into a snake that ate the magicians tricks. The rod of God was also used to split the Red Sea for the Israelites to cross on dry ground. It was also used to close the Red Sea. It was used to strike a rock for water to burst forth in order to water the Israelites cattle and themselves. The rod of God was held up above Moses' head and as long as it was, the Israelites people were able to prevail against the army of Amalek.

Now we often think we ourselves can do anything. The truth is that we can't do anything of ourselves. The rod was a symbol of the future to come, Jesus Christ. We can't do anything without Jesus Christ. The rod, just a Christ, is used as deliverance in any time of need. We have an emblem that we can hold high which is the cross. The reason one goes to Hell is because they reject Christ as Gods only son and Him being crucified and raised again for our sins.

The rod was also a provider as it provided safety and water. Safety from Pharos and the Amalek armies. Provider of the water when the rock was struck. In our arrogance we often think we can provide and to give safety. When the bills are due and they become paid. When the cupboard is barren but the food comes in. Satan is a coward and always strikes from the back. When he begins to attack Jesus comes from the front and chases the enemy away. Just in today's time we should help out each other and lift them up, hold the up in order to fight against the devil. We should also lift Jesus Christ up for all to see. The purpose of the church is to lift up Jesus Christ and if we can do that the job will get done.

Is God Worthy?
Philippians 2:5-11 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
We are created in His likeness. Your life matters and everything you do matters. You can thank Him for the basics like food, shelter and health but even the birds have all those things. Man wants to see Gods glory but no man can see His glory in the human form. Our human form is sinful therefore we can not look upon God without a filter from His glory. When Christ became obedient unto the cross that made a way to God Himself. There is no other way to God than thru Jesus Christ alone.

The Angels seen Jesus Christ and watched God create all creation. They then watched Jesus become a man and descend to earth as a baby. When the single angel declared His birth the rest of the angels, multitudes of them declared and glorified Him. The Angels had waited for thousands of years to proclaim Christ's birth.

There is only one way to bring glory to God. Just as Moses had to be hid from Gods glory by a rock, we are hid behind Jesus. God made a search everywhere for a way but in the end, God gave Jesus, His only son, for us to truly glorify God. John 5:23 Jesus did the very work of God.
