How To Be Happy
Psalm 1:1-6 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
What's going on in our world right now? Just a few years ago folks loved to worship God and couldn't wait to worship God and depending on God for everything. The devil has come to steal, kill and destroy. For all of us there is two parts to us, a flesh and a spiritual. Blessed is the man that doesn't walk with the world. Satan doesn't want us to tell anyone about the goodness of God or invite folks or even yourself to church. So how can a man or woman be happy? There is only one thing that can make one happy. Which would you rather have, something that's temporary or something that's eternal?
  • To truly be happy you must be born again. You must personally know Jesus Christ.
  • A prayer life is the next thing to have happiness. If you have a prayer life you can stay close to God.
  • Stay in your bible, make a set time to read His word. It will help you stand when you can't stand on your own.
  • You must also be a committed Christian. You should be committed to God, your church membership and your fellow Christian brothers and sisters.
  • One should also be assured in Jesus Christ and His word. The time is fast approaching to His second coming. The signs are right in front of us and are taking place every second, everyday.
  • We must believe the Word. Just because the pastor says it doesn't mean it's the gospel. The pastor is just as human s the next and we should know the bible and its life and not the pastors or anyone else's.

The Laver
Exodus 30:17-21 (Part of the Tabernacle, Covenant and a Priest series).
Tabernacle Layout

The Laver

The laver basically means round. It was round at the top and round at the bottom. Running water was a must as it could not be stagnant water.

The sacrifice was already made by the time the laver was used. One must be prepared by using the laver before going into the presence of God. We must all prepare to meet God. We should all stop and think about who God is and if we are preparing ourselves to go before Him.

There was life in the water. God told Moses to strike a rock and water began to run to give life to those that were thirsty. The lady at the well was told that Jesus Christ can provide a water that a person would never thirst again. There is also a fountain of water that flows from under Christ's throne.

There are things that we touch, that we see, that we involve ourselves in that are of the world that should be purged of. Imagine the priest standing at the laver, rubbing and searching, rubbing and searching just to make sure that he was clean before God. God said that if the priest was not clean prior to coming before Him that he would be struck dead.

There are things that we do on a daily basis are likely many sinful things. This is because we are of the flesh and the flesh is sinful.

James 4:8 we should draw closer to God BUT we should cleans our hands (sins, repent) before doing so. If you're a Christian and are having a problem getting your prayers thru to God, make sure your life is cleansed from sin. God will not hear you if you're in sin because He can see/hear over the sin. Ephesians 5:26 Christ gave Himself to the church but He is the water that washes away and removes our sins. Once we are saved, all of our sins on the inside are forgiven and removed forever BUT the outward flesh is sinful and should be cleaned often.

The Wiles of the Devil
Ephesians 6:10-18 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
Satan is a created being and is no different than the angels in heaven. Satan has many tactics that he uses on the children of God on a daily basis. The thief has come to steal, kill and destroy. The thief is the devil and the wicked spirits that serve him. Their are enough to spread across the world. The devil does not have free rein of a christian because we are protected by the shield of God. John 10:10, 2 Cor 2:11, Eph 6:16, 1 Peter 5:8 We truly have an enemy and we can not stand in the flesh to fight him. It takes something greater than the flesh to fight him because he is in the sprint therefore must be fought in the spirit. He is not omnipresent but has many demons that do his handy-work. This world currently is the devils domain until Jesus comes back. The very thing that we live in, the flesh, wants to live in the world because of it’s lust. Nothing has changed since Adam and Eve because he is still deceiving and lying to people everyday. What a terrifying thing to be able to see with our eyes the spiritual warfare that goes on all around us. If we are saved then we are protected by Gods great hand and satan can not get to us unless God allows it. When Jesus died, He died for ALL but many will not submit to Him. If you’re playing with the devil he will take you further than you ever thought you would go quicker than you ever thought. When you light a match and place that flame under your hand, you will pull your hand back because there is a nerve that warns you of danger. Just as that nerve warns you, God also warns you of the dangers of the devil. Satan wants to destroy your testimony if you’re saved. Satan will use anything he can to tear you down. He will use religion itself to bring you down. If you are saved then you’re going to heaven but that doesn’t mean that if you play with the devil that he will keep people around you lost and going into hell. We hear it everyday, pastors having affairs because satan laid a woman in their lives. We as humans are ignorant to satan’s lies and deceptions.

Be Like Gideon
1 Corinthians 1:18-31 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
People thought that thru their own wisdom they would rid themselves of Christ by crucifying Him. However, thru their foolishness they fulfilled the plan of salvation for all mankind. Romans 1:19 Everyone knows that there is a God. Our own timeframe is created upon a before Christ and after Christ. Due to the sacrifice of Christ every person has the opportunity to be saved. It's foolishness to many that one person years ago could die to save the future. Romans 1:26-32 It's not Gods will for anyone to perish but many will turn against God and will turn to themselves seeking after their own lusts. We commonly think that we are the only ones that are going thru something, no one understands what our battle feels like. But Christ himself was rejected and is still rejected today. We seek after things in this world that please us, love, drugs, alcohol, stuff, money. In the end these things will all be destroyed.
Preached by Steve Howard on February 5, 2017 (Sunday Evening).
God Never Changes
Hebrews 13:7-12 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
Leaders are setup today and are gone tomorrow. The same God that saves us is the same God that created the heavens and the earth. He is the same then and is the same today and will be the same tomorrow. In our lives we think we are doing right but in Gods eyes it's completely wrong. We must ask God to forgive us of those wrong doings. People change and our hope should never be in people. We are so invested in the political agenda and self wants. What's important is Gods message being spread to every person. The president won't answer the phone when you need help. God always answers when we call and the truth of it is, He already knows why you're calling. Party names, democrats, republican, liberals, etc. are all names created to separate people. The one name above all that needs answering is, are you a Christian?
