Cloak of Disguise
Isaiah 6:1-8 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
We fail to see the power in Gods Word, the holy bible. When He speaks things change, things happen and they happen just as He speaks. The word of God is what makes us free. In most cases our minds are tickled by the lies of the world which is why we choose not to listen to God's word. Your agenda does not matter when it comes to God's. There is not enough self help books in the world to fix and remove your sins. We often convince ourselves that we are all we need to correct our wrong doings. Salvation is not the end, it's the beginning of your life. Everyday the enemy, satan tries to get into our minds. Our biggest problems are ourselves because we are all flesh. There has never been a bigger lie that that of the, "I'm fine" attitude. We are we the only ones that allows the devil to control our lives? It's because we want to, we are ignorant. God's truth has always been there to remove the false nature of the devil. One can't get close to perfectness without realizing your not perfect in comparison. We are worried about what others think about us more than what God knows about it. We have no excuse to lose. We live defeated lives because we chose to not live as Christ has told us. Why do we turn and resist God doing what we want to do when all the while God is the only one that knows what's good for us? Can you really see God? Can you feel God? Are their blinders in your life hiding your sins?
Preached by Tommy Boring on January 24, 2016 (Sunday Morning).
Perfectly Holy
1 Peter 1:13-16 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
God has called us to be holy, perfect. Thinking of some items that should fixed up is our thoughts and options that have left God out of them. If you've declared to the world that you've been saved then the world is watching you. If you continue to act like the world then there is no difference and it contradicts God. Being holy means you're perfect. How do you win someone to Christ? Be holy. To be a sacrifice for God means they do whatever it takes and they lay their life down daily. If the world looks at you are they seeing Jesus? The world has already looked at Christians and called us hypocrites because we have failed at being holy. Stop playing around the with devil and his sins. We should all apologize to God and repent for all of the second hand worthless "sacrifices " that we've tried to give Him. Have you examined yourself lately to make sure you're right with God? Did you know that if you've been born again then you are the temple of God? Which temple are you? You're either a temple of God or of satan. All the things that we do down here, if they are not of God then they are wasted.
Preached by Tommy Boring on November 15, 2015 (Sunday Evening).
Your Sin Is Not Just Your Sin
Joshua 7:10-13 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
The price or penalty of sin affects many. If sin only affected the one that sinned, then it would be a different situation. We should know what's right and wrong but there is also that lives inside of a saved person that is a moral compass. If you willing sin, you offend the Holy Spirit and judgement will be required. It's never ok to sin no matter who says it's fine. When one feels the temptation of sin we should walk away from it. One can always claim an excuse of a sin but in the end, you know it's a sin. If you are saved and you do sin, God will chastise you if forgiveness is not asked. If you are confused about whether it's right or wrong, you need to seek Gods face. Romans 6:23 plainly states what sin will get you. Sin is a temporary happiness that will quickly turn to death. The warning to us all is that sin is not joy to God. God will not turn His back while you choose to sin. Sin has and will always be a choice to us all. Your sin could affect the church, the family and even your life. When you stand before God, you will no excuse, blame or any reason to why you chose to sin. There is no other price for sin but death. You can always hide your sin from others around you but God will always know. If you have sin and bring it to the church, it can hinder and quench the Spirit from working with others. Have you ever left a church service wondering what happened to the Spirit? Did you ever ask yourself, was I the reason the Spirit left? More than likely it was someone else camping out with their sin and trying to hide it from God. God knows and will not work when sin is abound. What good is something that you must hide?
Preached by Tommy Boring on May 31, 2015 (Sunday Evening).
The Economics of Grace
Matthew 16:24-27 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
Thinking about profits. The rough definition of what a profit is, it's what left over after giving. A business can not survive without a profit. At the end of your life your profits will be examined. If you owned everything in the world, would it benefit you at death? Think about the things you trade for peace. It's hard to value a profit when you can't understand the cost up front. Your soul is so valuable that God sent His only son to be sacrificed for it. Did you know that when you travel to other countries, our American money means nothing to them? Just the same, when you die, what you owned here on earth means nothing to death, heaven and hell. When God comes to you and calls your name, He's asking you to be saved. He is offering you something that nothing else can give or offer to you. If you accept His offer He will give you "the world", peace, forgiveness, love, joy and ticket to heaven. There is a cost to accepting His offer. It will cost you everything that you treasure. The more you treasure, the harder you life will be until you put God first. So if a man were to gain or own the entire world and lose his soul, what did he profit?
Preached by Tommy Boring on February 15, 2015 (Sunday Morning).
Do You Wash Daily?
John 13:2-15 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
Not only do we need to give but we also need to receive. Once you've become saved, you've become a new creature, no longer wanting the evil of the world. If you don't repent to God, then you'll have no part of Him. Those that do things for themselves, the Truth is not in them. We should be drawing closer everyday of our lives to God. If God has forgiven you, then you should also forgive others. If you know of something that needs to be fixed amongst you and a brother, you'll hold everyone else back until it's fixed between you and that person. Ephesians 4:31-32
Preached by Rick Rutherford on December 10, 2014 (Wednesday).
