Get the Good Stuff
Hebrews 9:1-15 (Part of the Communion Services series).
Jesus prayed in the garden for His fathers will to be done that if there was another way that it be done. God knew that it would take His son to remove the sins of the world therefore there was no other way. God gave the best He had for the sins of the world. Many people are proud of their sins and make them something of importance. When Jesus prayed in the garden He prayed that the cup be passed, so what was in the cup? Sin... He knew that he would have to take on and drink in the sin. The sin would become Him just as when we take of the wine. The sin also has a savor, a bitterness. We know that when Christ died on the cross that He drunk the entire cup of sin and took the bitter sting of death. Jesus, in the garden, knew what a He was about to go thru and therefore was in agony. He was under so much stress that He began to sweat blood. Jesus knew with every step of the way what was going on. The "court" was completely against Him and so was the people. Jesus was human but He was also God. His flesh was just that, flesh, it was weak but His spirit was strong and kept His flesh moving. With each step He took and each whip He withstood, He was lifting the sin filled cup closer and closer to His lips. Since the beginning of time the altar had cried out for a sacrifice. Adam and Eve had a sacrifice made for them in order to cover their nakedness. Lambs and doves were used as sacrifices for the sins of many in the temples. When Jesus gave a his life as a living sacrifice for everyone's sins, the altar was finally satisfied and it no longer cries out. One of the cries from the cross was, why did God turn away from Jesus? Sin will separate you from God. When Jesus took our sins upon Himself, the sin made a Him feel as if He was separated from God. Just as a Christian sins they feel a separation from God and must repent to get close to God again.
Preached by Thomas Vananda on June 2, 2017 (Communion).
Be a Spongebob
1 Corinthians 13:1-13 (Part of the Communion Services series).
If you're born again, you're seeking a city called Heaven. Those that are born again will testify about the goodness that God has performed for them. We should all come to Jesus as a little child, humbled before God. God takes care of His children just as a parent takes care of their children. The children should grow in the spirit of God because they need strength to put away the devil. If you're waiting until you get old, get sick or after you've "lived your life", you're waiting and gambling with your eternal life. No person knows when they will die. Soak up as much of Jesus as you can in your Christian life. Whether you're young and saved or old, soak up Jesus. Allow God to be your teacher and learn as much as you can. Once you learn something, let others know. Share your faith with others as you grow. Be an example. If you're born again, live your salvation and not a backslid life. You have a responsibility to be an example for Christ and we will be judged for our shared lives.
Preached by Ricky Boring on June 5, 2016 (Communion).
The Sacred Communion
John 6:44-58 (Part of the Communion Services series).
All the physical pain that Jesus Christ went through was nothing compared to the separation between Him and His Father. Communion is a Holy right and should not be taken lightly. Only the saved should take part in the communion as those without salvation will be judged. If you have sin or an ought between you and someone else, you should repent of it prior to the communion service. God wants to commune with us but sin keeps Him from doing so. Jesus came down from Heaven being equal with God to perform an act lower than a slave. He washed His disciples feet humbling Himself to show His love towards them.
Preached by Matthew Adams on June 4, 2016 (Communion).
He Took the Time To Pray
John 17:1-26 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
We were the very reason Jesus Christ gave His life for. Jesus' last public prayer was for His disciples and for all of us. He seen your need of a savior and gave His life as a sacrifice.
Preached by Bruce Whitehead on March 23, 2016 (Wednesday).
The Privilege of Serving
Ephesians 5:21-33 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
There is a great example given of love, commitment and trust through a marriage. Women are to submit themselves to their husbands, not for ownership. Just as a woman is to submit themselves to their husbands we all are to submit ourselves to God. The husband is the head of their family just as God is the head of our being. God is the head of the church and as long as we follow Him we will be right. Just as when Adam and Eve sinned and God cursed them, Eve, Women, were cursed to always want to lead over the man. You might find it a hardship to follow Christ. If you do, you need to seek out why. It shouldn't be a burden to follow Him because He loved you first when you didn't even ask for it. If you get close to God, you'll get closer to your spouse. Where would we be without Christ? Do you live your life like it's your own? Husbands are to love their wives as Christ loved the church. Christ laid His life down for the church. Husbands, if you are living in the world then you are not living an example of Christ for your wife to follow. How is your love life with God? Do you have your mind on someone else? Romans 8:31-35
Preached by Tommy Boring on July 22, 2015 (Wednesday).
