This Then Is The Message (Part 1)
1 John 1:5-10 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
First and foremost, Jesus is the light. The first thing that was done in the beginning is that light was declared to overcome the darkness. What the world needs is Light. In this world we live in it with darkness surrounding us. Everyday when we look outside we see that the sun rises shedding light to beginning the beginning of a new day. We have different time zones because our lives revolve around the sun. In our lives we will all suffer a time of darkness but know that the light is just around the corner. The devil wants to tear you down and remove the victory that Christ has given you. As the children's song goes, if we hide our light under a bushel the light is still there, it's just a small flicker. Some have played with the light for too long and haven't share it with others. So how do you shed more light in a room filled with darkness? You lift up the light. Do you have the light in order to lift it up? Jesus is light and when Jesus is in your life it dispels all darkness.
Preached by Tommy Boring on December 11, 2016 (Sunday Morning).
Some Things Have Changed, but Some Things are Still the Same
Acts 26:14-18 (Part of the 220th Original Tennessee Association of Primitive Baptist series).
The call hasn't changed. We are a chosen generation. No matter what comes against you, you are made by God for a purpose. We need to live holy and talk holy. We are to be a peculiar person, different from the world. We all were called out of the same place, darkness. The commission is the same for those that are called. The challenge is also the same. The cost is also the same. The most expensive thing in life is time. It will cost a lot of time working for God. So what has changed? Our priorities.
Preached by Thomas Vananda on October 11, 2014 (Association Morning 1).
Get Over It!
1 John 2:7-11 (Part of the Does He Abide Within? series).
We are to love with all of our heart. It's easier said than done at times. Love is an action. John 13:24 It's difficult to love everyone. 1 John 4:10 The challenge is to love those that are unlovable. The greatest example of love was when God gave His only son for our sin sacrifice. If you're born again, the love of God lives inside you. Christ loved us when we were sinners and so should we with others. The love of God goes beyond our normal way of thinking. Think about how you love your enemy. Would you want God to love you that way? If you've lived any length of time, you've had your love broken by someone. God loves ALL sinners, even the ones that hate you. If you can't love your enemy, you need to make sure that Gods love is truly in you. The flesh says, revenge is mine, but a Christian can't live that way. 1 Cor 13:4-8
Preached by Tommy Boring on September 14, 2014 (Sunday Morning).
The Light is Either On or Off
1 John 1:5-7 (Part of the Does He Abide Within? series).
God is the Light. Wherever Jesus Christ is, there is light. Darkness must flee when light is shown. Jesus is brighter than the sun itself. People get confused that they can live one day one way and the next another way. We as Christians need to be bringing the Light to the world. Once one becomes saved darkness moves out and the Light moves in. Take the frown off your face if God lives in you. People think that knowing Jesus or being saved is church attendance, knowing someone like the pastor or their grandparents or having their name on a church role. If you've never been born again by Jesus Christ then you don't know what the Light is. The devil tries to pull everyone down but regardless of that he can never touch the Light of God. There's been people that just want to give up on life but if you're one of His, He will see you through it. Stop whining and crying about your problems and tell your problems about God. If your desire is to walk in darkness then you're not a child of God yet. The first thing that God created is light. When He said it, it was. There is not a confusion between light and dark, saved and lost. There is a difference between a profession of faith and a possession of faith. Mat 5:14-16 If the Light is really in you then you WILL walk in the Light. No matter where you go He will Light your path. It's not about what you know in the bible and how to speak it to someone, just show up in the room. If the Light is in you then we as Christians make up the city that is on the hill for everyone to see. God just wants us to be the one to hold the candle stick up. He doesn't want us to create the light because we can't. All God wants us to do is to just walk in the Light. If we as Christians walk in the Light then we will bare witness with one another. We also have the blood of Jesus to cleans all of our sins.
Preached by Tommy Boring on September 3, 2014 (Wednesday).
A Picture Of Salvation
Genesis 1:1-5 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
Before anything can happen, the Spirit must move first. John 6:44 In the beginning, God sent the Spirit. One can't do anything to be saved on their own power. Most everyone that has been saved experiences a light in one form or another. John 3:16-21 In order to be saved you must first be drawn by the Spirit of God and then you must believe that He is the only true God.  We all have a choice, when salvation is offered, you don't have to accept it. One can choose the light or you can choose the dark. If you are lost you just as in the beginning, you are without life and without form. In order to have life and form, the Spirit must move first. How will you know when He calls you? You will know when He calls your name, just as a sheep knows its masters voice.
Preached by Bruce Whitehead on August 17, 2014 (Sunday Evening).
