Stop, Drop & Wait
Isaiah 40:31 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
Tribulation works patience. Patience is a virtue and if that's true, Jesus was born with it. Human nature teaches us to try to understand everything. God tells us to simply wait, be patient. God doesn't change His mind because we don't listen or do, He already knows the outcome and has planned for it. We as humans are very impatient. We should trust and wait on Gods will. God tells us to just trust Him. When we do it our way and not wait on Gods will, it will always mess up. Patience is something God gives. Everyone that waits on God will be blessed and be strengthened. Resist taking control when you should be waiting on God. Think of all the times when you've done it yourself and everything just fell into ruins. Faith is believing that God will take care of all of our problems.
Preached by Tommy Boring on May 10, 2015 (Sunday Evening).
It's Not All About You
Romans 1:16 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
The world would have you to be ashamed of being a Christian. We often wonder why God is not working around us. It's because we look away from God instead of towards Him. Many times we are impatient on God. The power of God doesn't come from what we do, it comes from what God does through us. We should stop trying to take it upon ourselves. There is many times where we through our own power, strength and wisdom that we can overcome our sins. In order to have power, we must live and do what God says. Many times we forget that we serve God. Being saved is not about having a free ticket into heaven. All the things that Christ did while He was walking on this earth means nothing without the cross. If your feelings contradict the a Word of God, then it's not from God.
Preached by Lucas Boring on October 16, 2013 (Wednesday).
Does God Hear Your Prayer?
Jonah 1:1-9 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
If we could get into the right frame of mind, we would see things to begin to happen. Jonah was in just the same shape as the world is in now. He was disobedient to God. We say our prayers each day or night but did we actually mean it or think about it? Did you really think about what God has done for you? Too many times we are afraid to talk to God because we are afraid of what He will say to us. We need to get like Jonah and get serious with God. Has God asked you to do something but you've refused? God wants us to talk to Him, seriously, not flippantly. Jonah didn't have to ask if God heard him, he knew in his soul that God answered him. Stop throwing your prayers in the air and hoping God catches them. God gave us salvation and then we sit down on it. Picture your friends, children, family and everyone else you know burning in hell for eternity. Is that serious? Then get serious with God!
Preached by Steve Whitehead on July 3, 2013 (Wednesday).
The Patience Of Job
James 5:7-12 (Part of the Spiritual Maturity series).
The importance of patience. No excuses about not having patience. We will argue with anything simply because we have no patience. We mess up when we do thing on our own, without God. You can't have a positive without a negative.
Preached by Tommy Boring on August 1, 2012 (Wednesday).
Grow Up!
James 1:1-5 (Part of the Spiritual Maturity series).
What did I do to deserve this? Why does He hate me so? I never get what I want. You don't know what I'm going through.
