Stay Away From Evil Things
1 Thessalonians 5:16-22 (Part of the The Need For Christian Duties series).
People don't want to hear this saying anymore. People want to live the way they want to, however they want and whenever they want. Once you're born again you are no longer yourself but holy. How many of you have damaged your testimony because you've messed with something that you know you shouldn't had? Did you know that people are watching you whether you want them to or not? To some people the only "bible" they know is thru your life. Staying away from evil cramps people's style.

Let's just be honest for just a minute, look in the mirror and you should see a person that has problems with staying away from evil. One of the hardest things to do is to control the tongue. The scripture doesn't just apply to the preachers or deacons. It was addressed to ALL Christians.

It's very difficult to get a persons confidence back after it's been lost. You're the one that the lost is watching and taking note on your actions. Christians have been pulled out of the world and therefore shouldn't be IN the world. The lost are constantly looking for hypocrites.

One must prove it first to make sure it's of a Godly nature. Do the "smell test". Stop and take the time to evaluate prior to doing them. There is no grey area when it comes to right or wrong. The grey area is created by us that wants to feel good about doing something wrong, therefore it would classified as wrong. The power of the church is based upon the faithfulness or life of its members. Phil 4:8, there are things that should be done in front of the lost.

One can't unscramble the eggs or put the toothpaste back into the tube. What do you do if you've messed things up with your testimony/life? Change, there is an expectation that each time you attend church there should be a change. When we change the lost will see it and want to know what's the difference. We should apologize to them for acting out wrong.

Something's Missing
Luke 15:11-14 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
A lot of us want things that we think we are owed. We were owed death and hell but God seen otherwise. Some of us question Gods word for us and think we know better. There is a place in your heart that needs filled and during your life you'll try to put things in that hole to try to fill it. Nothing in this world will ever fill that void. Jesus is the ONLY thing that's able to fill that void and He will never leave that void once it's filled with Him. Repeating a prayer, having a prayer prayed over you by the pastor or having your name on a church membership doesn't make you saved or fill that void. If you think you've struck a deal with God that gives you the ability to do what you want (sin) then you've been badly mistaken. You're in the wrong. God has a plan for everyone, it's just a matter of accepting His call in your life. If you avoid His call, He will try to get your attention. Sometimes it takes a lot, sometimes it takes very little to grab your attention. A lot of times folks are scared of what you'll have to give up once you turn your life over to God. God will never leave you and if He calls you, He WILL carry you thru whatever He's called you to do. What God has done for us is just beautiful. We ALL fall short of the Holiness of Gods Glory but repentance and forgiveness gets us closer and closer. When you ask for forgiveness and you get that forgiveness, God doesn't hold it over you but in fact gives the feasts of feasts because He loves you.

If there is someone that thinks that Hell is just a big party and not that it of deal, they're completely in the wrong. Hell is to be feared and there will never be a "party" but torments and a fire that will never burn up the flesh and will never cease.

Are You Just Running or Running to Win? (Part 1)
2 Peter 1:1-3 (Part of the 2 Peter 1 series).
Your opinion doesn't matter when it comes to what God knows. When you learn the wrong thing, it will lead you down the wrong path. The world can not show or teach you peace. Being saved means that for all of us that are saved have a commonality. We've all came thru the same Jesus Christ and nothing else. Being good will not get you to Salvation. No ones salvation is better than the next. Preacher's salvation isn't any stronger than a lay member. How many excuses can you think of when God simply asks you to do something? What's your agenda for attending church or listening to this sermon? Why do we settle for "alright" salvation. We have zero excuses to sit down on God. Romans 10:13 plainly states that you should simply ask to be born again but Romans 10:14 says but how can they ask if they haven't heard of Jesus Christ. Those of us that are called, saved, have every second of our lives to share Jesus to the lost. Did you know that you can do ANYTHING that God wants? The problem is that we limit ourselves through excuses. Psalms 119:27 we shouldn't be afraid of what God wants us to do. Has He not already called you to do something great? Some of us are bound by our doubts. One of the greatest sins of the saved is omission. The omission of showing Jesus Christ to the lost around us and living like Jesus Christ lives within us. There are those that no matter what's going on around them, they are happy, always. Why is that, that one could be happy no matter what? They have Jesus that lives within them and holds all peace and happiness. Phil 3:8, 1 Tim 3:4 do you think God wants you to know what's in His book? God has called us to glory and virtue. One can't produce Spiritual fruit if you're not Spiritual or saved. But if you are saved you should always be bearing Spiritual fruit.

Fooling God
Hebrews 2:13-18 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
We should be honest when we pray. One can't repent for another person. God has seen us at our best and He has known us at our worst. We've all been as a hypocrite and think that we've got God fooled. There is no excuse for our pride. God was born into the flesh so that He could experience the temptation of sin. It doesn't matter your age, if you are holding sin within, you must let it go. When you allow God to move into your life completely you will quickly find out that the world holds nothing you want or need. God is not mocked, He requires ALL to repent. Your lifestyle matters to God. What is a god? A god is something one depends on, trusts in, can't live without it. Although God knows about your sin, He doesn't condemn you.

Do You Believe?
John 20:19-31 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
During this time of the season we all know what it means. Some movies during this time state, seeing is believing. During the time of Moses, even after he did great things through God, they seen him do these things first hand but they still didn't believe. Many people will see and touch things and believe in them but those are all worldly things. We have faith and we believe that our vehicles will start each day but one day they will fail us. Belief is a big world. Believing in something like Santa is not a bad thing but the things that are given will all soon pass away or get old. The only way to Jesus Christ is to believe in Him. What will believing in something outside of Jesus Christ get you in life? Believing in Jesus Christ doesn't mean that your life will be easy and without difficulties. Love, Joy, Peace, Long-suffering, Gentleness, Faith and Meekness are all things that Jesus gives us. People are out there everywhere trying to find all of those things out in the world, but they will NEVER find it in the world. Whatever it is that you're looking for and needing, Christ is the answer. We ask our children what they'd like to have and they always answer with something. So the question to you is, what do you want? When someone gives you a gift for Christmas do you just leave it under the tree or do you take it?
