Something's Missing
Luke 15:11-14 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
A lot of us want things that we think we are owed. We were owed death and hell but God seen otherwise. Some of us question Gods word for us and think we know better. There is a place in your heart that needs filled and during your life you'll try to put things in that hole to try to fill it. Nothing in this world will ever fill that void. Jesus is the ONLY thing that's able to fill that void and He will never leave that void once it's filled with Him. Repeating a prayer, having a prayer prayed over you by the pastor or having your name on a church membership doesn't make you saved or fill that void. If you think you've struck a deal with God that gives you the ability to do what you want (sin) then you've been badly mistaken. You're in the wrong. God has a plan for everyone, it's just a matter of accepting His call in your life. If you avoid His call, He will try to get your attention. Sometimes it takes a lot, sometimes it takes very little to grab your attention. A lot of times folks are scared of what you'll have to give up once you turn your life over to God. God will never leave you and if He calls you, He WILL carry you thru whatever He's called you to do. What God has done for us is just beautiful. We ALL fall short of the Holiness of Gods Glory but repentance and forgiveness gets us closer and closer. When you ask for forgiveness and you get that forgiveness, God doesn't hold it over you but in fact gives the feasts of feasts because He loves you.

If there is someone that thinks that Hell is just a big party and not that it of deal, they're completely in the wrong. Hell is to be feared and there will never be a "party" but torments and a fire that will never burn up the flesh and will never cease.

Maintaining Our Passion For The Lord
Luke 8:14 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
God is the only thing that can give you happiness for eternity. Once God has convicted you it's a horrible feeling to know if you die you'll awake in hell. There is pleasure in sins for just a few days but in the end is death. Once you see your sin and repent, God is happy to receive you back into His arms. The difference between a sinner and a saved is that a sinner has nothing to lean on. A saved person has God to lean on and to ask for help that will never turn them away. How many times will God forgive you? When we were created a soul that lives forever was added to our lives. When we die, that soul will live either in Heaven or in hell. When we pray we are talking to God on a one-on-one basis. When we pray we get answers but sometimes they are not answered the way we think they ought to be. We should pray like it matters not because we feel we have to pray. Has there been anything that God has done good for you? Do we thank God for your health? Are you spoiled and expect more from God? As in football, God never has a bad season, He is ALWAYS the winner. We all have something good to say about God, Share it!
Preached by Matthew Adams on May 18, 2014 (Sunday Evening).
The Joy of The Lord is Strength
Nehemiah 8:5-10 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
Does the Word of God affect you? Do you mostly live in the dumps being depressed. There will be times that you will be challenged in regards to your happiness. Worldly things will quickly lead to unhappiness. Repentance brings joy, (Luke 15:7). Obedience brings joy (John 15:11). If you are not bearing fruit, then you've not been saved. Joy is just a blink away. Faith brings joy (John16:24). In order to ask God for something we must have faith. A grafted limb doesn't have to struggle to produce fruit, it's just a limb. The limb relies on the trunk, the source to provide its strength. Just as with us, if we would just let Jesus take control and do what He asks, we would have Joy. If you are still having a depressed, unjoyful life, just think of your heavenly home (Luke 6:23). If your name has been written in the Lambs Book of Life, then you've got Hope that will bring you Joy (Luke 10:20). If you stay in His presence or are simply in His presence, Joy will also be there (Psalm 16:11).

Following From Behind
Luke 22:54-62 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
We will all at some point fall away from Christ. It's called by different things, backsliding, cold, indifferent, falling away. We should strive to be a Christian everyday of our lives, not just on Sundays or church days. We should follow Jesus closely, not far away or from a distance. There is no true falling away or losing ones salvation. We brag all about whipping the devil when Jesus is near. It feels good to be near Jesus. We should start our days with being next to Jesus. One should get to the point in their lives to realize that Jesus is ALL one needs. If one chooses to be near Jesus one should also expect to be persecuted along with Him. If one let's the things of this world to overwhelm us then we have begun the follow at a distance. When we try to distance ourselves from God, the world will kindle a fire for us. It's cold away from God and a fire sure makes things look warmer. There might be times that we do not know where Jesus is leading us, but just keep following. The world can identify who is one of His even when they are no longer following Jesus. Once one falls behind their happiness will leave. If Jesus didn't love you, than He wouldn't care about knowing what is going to happen in your life. When we fail, God doesn't look at us as a failure or angered, He looks at us with compassion. The problem is that we are not willing to repent. Why can't we weep before God?
