Near The Cross
Luke 9:23 (Part of the Revival 2018 series).

How near are you to the cross? God doesn't want you to view the cross from afar. He wants you to be within touching distance.

What do we see when we are near the cross?

  • Supplication Luke 22:40-44, If praying is good enough for our savior then it's good enough for us. If we get close to the cross we will pray like we are suppose to. Prayer is not to inform God something of something. The purpose of prayer is relationship. We pray to work against temptation. Did you know that you won't get to the cross by accident? It's a deliberate decision that's made that you want to get closer. Strength comes near the cross while praying.
  • Submission It no longer about you once you're at the cross. Phil 2:5-8, you've got to be willing to be a nobody. There is a lack of submission in the church today towards God. You're either being a helping hand or a hired hindrance. James 4:6-7, when you submit to God then the devil will leave you alone because he doesn't like the cross.
  • Suffering If you take a stand for God then your suffering will be great but if you're next to the cross things get a whole lot better. Luke 24:25-26, Did Jesus not suffer during His scourging? As He got closer to His cross the suffering got worse.
  • Solitude Jesus was by himself as He got closer to His cross. John 19:25, once there was a multitude as people would seek Him out and at the cross there was only 5. As long as He was feeding the five thousand the people would stick around. But then when He was dying for the sin of the world then the people left Him. When you get close to Jesus your so-called friends will begin to leave but you'll end up with just a few. Those few are usually the ones that are sold out to Jesus just as you. Do you feel like you're not being feed? It's a selfish excuse. It's not about you.
  • Sacrifice We all want something for nothing. Heb 7:26-27, Jesus went to the cross and gave up His life on His own terms, an ultimate sacrifice that only He could do. That sacrifice was for us. Mark 10 speaks of a rich man that simply didn't know the gospel. Jesus explained to him about how to get to heaven. Jesus loved this man throughout their conversation. Jesus told him to basically deny himself and follow Him. But this rich man loved his stuff more than Jesus and couldn't do it. Not we do this same thing everyday but there is a difference and that's Salvation. If we have salvation then we know and should understand what we should do but we choose otherwise. You say you can't come to Sunday school cause it's too early but you'll get up to go to your place of work that's earlier.
  • Success Eph 2:13, Jesus blood covers it all. What Jesus did at the cross was simply enough. Gal 2:20, His death should have been our death. It's about being born again and nothing else.

We've been content for too long. The further you get away from the cross the more heartache you'll have. Christ has NOT given up on you. Come back and reclaim your position near the cross.

Spectators of the Work
Luke 10:1-12 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
Whatever hinders you from doing what the Word of God says, you need to deal with. The hardest IS great! How many days go by without you saying anything to a lost person about your salvation. Isa 5:18 Hell is growing larger and larger each day. God plainly says to go out into the world and compel them to come to church. Once you're born again or saved you're job has just begun NOT that you should just sit back and do nothing. You as the saved are the only gospel some may ever see or know. The great falling away is NOT an excuse that you can ever give to God for your lack of care for the lost. Many once they leave the church house, preacher or the church members they begin to act, dress and talk like the world. A saved person should be a different people called out amongst the lost. Do you realize that your brain could simply stop functioning and any given moment? Your heart could stop and the flip of a switch. God controls your life and we should act like it. You've got the answer to the lost persons need for salvation if you're born again. The sad news is that not everyone will be saved because they will reject Gods only son, Jesus Christ. This is fact and truth from the Word of God and can not be changed but, this doesn't give a saved person the excuse to not share Jesus with them. If you've got a big work to do then you should have a lot of people to do it or it will never get done. The preacher can not reach every lost person, that's why we as the saved must go out and compel them to be born again. So what do you do if you don't have enough workers, you go out and get more. When the harvest is ready, then you must get it in, work it. There are a lot of spectators that want to see the work of God but unwilling to surrender to God and do His work. Jesus went far and beyond for your life, why can't you go that far for Him? What do you have to lose? The Lord of the harvest is God and we should be praying to Him for more workers, help. We are not to pray harder for the lost, we need more help. The church doesn't need more bodies in the building, they need more workers. If a company had 100 employees that just sat and did nothing, the company would fail. But if a company had 100 employees that all worked, the company would grow and flourish. God has called everyone that's saved for a work and we should ALL be doing it. What's your purpose of being saved? The preacher has just as much responsibility as the lay member. Gal 4:8, Luke 4:14 God already wants to save the lost, John 3:16, so we can stop asking Him to do what He already wants to do. The problem is that God needs workers and we are unwilling to work and just want God to do what we want. The story of the little red hen. We have a reward coming for the work that God has called us to do, but we have to do it to receive it. If something in your life keeps you from doing the will of God, remove it, cut it out of your life. Everyone wants to see God, go to heaven, want the reward...

Headed Back to the Pig Pen
Matthew 12:22-35 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
What is the blasphemy of the Holy Ghost? Any and all sins can and will be forgiven by God if but only asked for the forgiveness. There's no big or little sin. Christ died for those that we claim is our enemies. So what is the sin that separates you from Jesus Christ? It's the one that you've never asked forgiveness for. How many religions are there in the world today? The religion doesn't matter because there is only two types of people, the lost and the saved. Your either with God or against him. We see churches pop up and then fall. We see Christians grow and do great things and then fall. In both cases the fall is due to a simple sin that was never forgiven or taken care of. How can a Christian serve a god that sends people to hell? The fact is, the question is wrong, God doesn't send them to hell, the person made a choice that hell is where they wanted to be by denying God. Isaiah 59:1-2 Sins are a separators between you and Jesus. Praying and asking God for forgiveness and then turning around and picking them right back up is choosing to live in it. We ALL need to make a choice. First, you had to make a choice whether you'll have God as your Lord and Savior. The next choice is to follow Christ and to serve Him completely.

Get Rooted
John 15:1-14 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
A vine must start from somewhere. A vine is babied, watered and fertilized while its growing. It doesn't start out blooming and producing fruit, it must be fertilizers and kept up before it will produce. Without the vines food it will die and never produce fruit. Just the same, without Jesus we can be nothing. If a church doesn't have God in it, it becomes nothing but just noise. Stay connected to God and you'll continue to grow and reaching out.
Preached by Darrell Croft on September 18, 2016 (Sunday Evening).
What Does it Take to Worship?
Nehemiah 8:1-2 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
Worship begins with self. A burden must take place before worship can begin. Anyone that has a hand, anyone that has a heart, do what God has called you to do. If you are a part of the body of Christ you should be shouting with joy. If God says it, then you can bank on it. If you have a grudge or anything that separates you from the brethren then you can not and will not have complete worship. In order to worship you must come expecting to worship. All you've got to do is ask God for more of Him. There are a lot of people that are simply satisfied with their salvation, but being satisfied is the problem with worship. Being saved should make you want more of Christ, not just some or a little.
