Rules of Gift Giving
2 Corinthians 9:6-8 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
|The gift of God is simply, John 3:16. He gave the unspeakable gift. Beginning from the last, everything comes from God. Not one person has anything unless it comes thru God first. We as humans are selfish creatures by nature. God wants to give you His undeserved love. Many holidays come and go and they revolve around giving, however we should be a giver everyday. If you're judging the gift by its size then you've missed the point. One doesn't give because of self, one gives because they are loved. We've been given the greatest gift, love, that it should cause one to give it back.
There should be a time when you've found yourself in want. Bills to pay, missing food on the table or even gas to fuel the car. During that time, God might come to you and ask you to give to someone else. Now money is not something that can be controlled and many of billionaires worry about it till they die.
One point to be a good giver is to give abundantly and not sparingly. Just as sowing seeds, one doesn't plant one seed expecting hundreds of plants.
Point two, give purposely. One should purpose in their heart to love God and to pray for the need or gift. God knows the need and therefore we should obey what He tells us to give.
The third point is to give freely. This doesn't mean to smile while you gift it. Without a grudge or necessity. If it bothers you to give then you're giving wrongly.
If how you give is based on how you feel at the moment then the devil will talk you out if it every time. God tries to teach His lesson on giving by your obedience. When God tells you to give, give without question. No matter how much one gives, one can NEVER out-give Gods giving. We give because if we sow it, we will reap it as long as it's done by the above three points. The second reason is because God loves a cheerful giver. Wouldn't we all want to please God? Now when the offering was being taken, God is always watching. He knows what's in your pocket, He knows what's in your heart and He knows what He told you. It's not about how much is put it but why it was put in. Our church does not tell you how much to give because an amount is not biblical in today's time. The Old Testament explain a tenth but the New Testament explains that it's based on what God tells you to give and what you're willing to give. If you're worried about giving then you're worried about the wrong thing. 2 Cor explains that always God will take care of all needs.

Don't Get Comfortable
Revelation 3:14-22 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
God is the one that deserves all the honor and glory because He is the provider of all things. We get prideful and comfortable in ourselves and slowly stop relying on God. The things we accumulate in this life, money, goods and works will burn up in the end of time. One can't live one way and expect another so when you are teetering between Gods way and the worlds way God will not bless. God blesses us with things to bless others, not to fill our lives with things. So when God blesses with an abundance of food we are not to eat until we can't move. We are to share that food with others. Just the same with money, we are not to be selfish with our money and use it only for ourselves. Bless others by showing them that God loved you, therefore we love them. Someone that is prideful will not humble themselves to others or to God. When was the last time you repented, humbled yourself before God? God is always there and all we have to do is ask Him. It doesn't matter who you are or what you think, there will come a day that you WILL bow before Jesus Christ and worship Him. Whether you want to believe in Him or not in this life, you WILL at your death.

An Attitude of Gratitude
Ephesians 5:8-20 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
Giving thanks always for all things. There are some things we don't give thanks for cause we don't like them. So how can you give thanks for all things even the bad? We must understand and know that nothing touches us without it being ok'd by God first. Widows that's lost their loved ones that still lift their hands to say that God has been so good to them. There is plenty to complain about in this world in the flesh. There isn't a person that has not suffered. Those that suffer and are Christians discover that God helps them and is present in the sorrow. The lost will suffer alone and without God's help. Our problem is that we are afraid of Gods finest because it requires sorrow, purification and trials. But through them all, God is their and in full control. All things work to the goodness of God. The good stuff isn't usually just laying on the surface. What would you do if something bad happens to you? Prepare yourself for those things to happen. Put all your trust in the Lord.

The Business of Praise (Part 1)
Psalm 92:1-3 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
Man can not work for seven days. If you try to work seven days for very long you will find yourself drained. Many people have their own views of which day is the sabbath but we recognize the first day, Sunday as the sabbath. We should lift of our voices to give thanks unto The Lord, but we should also sing it. How many times do you sit back and let someone else give praises? People come to church for many different reasons. It's time we pay back the debtor for what He did! Worship is contagious. Some has taken the day of rest to the extreme, you've fallen asleep on God. All earths creation has no problem with worshipping and praising God. The birds, rocks and even the fish give praise but we as humans have a problem with doing that. If you're walking around mad at someone, you can't praise God! There is a common component in praising God, that is God. Without God, nothing can be done. Everyone is looking for the "good thing". Praising God is a good thing. People should see YOU praise God. When the end of your day comes you can always think back and be thankful for something. Your heart never misses a beat during the night as you sleep, be thankful. Some things to praise God for. Mercy, patience, long suffering, kindness, provision, faithfulness, true, never fails, constant, omnipresent, omnipotent, etc. Sometimes just music is praising God. When it comes with the purpose of giving God praise, give Him praise. Col 3:16, Eph 5:19, In your hearts is the common place of praise. What keeps YOU from worship? Are you ashamed? Do you have sin in your heart?

The Cost of Serving Jesus
2 Samuel 24:24 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
Anything of great value has a cost. Anything that we give to God it must be of great value. Are you giving God your first best or your second leftovers? Do you agree that everything you have came from God? God is looking for a commitment. But unless you realize that it's of great value, it will not be a commitment. The world wants a feel good message not a truthful message of rejection. Simply writing a check of high money is not of great value to God. You must love the things around you less than the love that you must have for Christ. God doesn't accept your second best. With Sunday being the first day of the week, it's the first therefore the best. If you don't love Jesus more than everything else in your life you better get on your knees. One can't be a disciple of Jesus if you only want to serve Him in part. If you think it's easy to serve God, you've been tricked. Jesus himself stated that if one decides to follow Him, they would be persecuted for His name. Are you giving God your all?

2 Corinthians 4:1-7 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
We have no right to let down on God. The harvest is great but the laborers are few. One is not to get saved and then sit back and not work. If you're not sowing it, then you can't grow it. God has employed us to do His work, but we sit back and do nothing for the check or even the bonus check. Are you keeping the great commandment, keeping God first, loving Him first and loving our neighbors as ourselves? Would you let someone walk off a cliff if you knew they were about to? One that is saved should be going out and teaching others about Christ. If you're not willing to work and do what God has said, then what are you looking for and want?
