Teach a Child in the Way it Should Go
1 Samuel 3:1-10 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
Giving the best to your children, Jesus. Teach them that in the time of their struggles to rely on God. We as parents have a major responsibility to bring up our children in a Godly way. Police your children and what they encounter whether it be the television, radio, schools or other homes. We as adults will be gone and our children will take over at that point. Your children need to see and hear us as parents pray and trust God. Prayer has been removed schools and the government. Just because you're a Christian doesn't mean that your child will also be a Christian. What keeps one out of hell is not someone else's salvation but theirs only.
Preached by Tommy Boring on February 14, 2016 (Sunday Evening).
Do You Believe?
1 John 4:12-15 (Part of the Does He Abide Within? series).
If God was here in the flesh there would be a line just to see Him. If you're looking for God in a physical sense you will not see it. God is love and you will see it through others. People live to satisfy what they think Gods requirements are. People will search out what their soul is void of. Some will search for it in religion or doctrine. God has given to us a lot of things but the greatest is His Spirit. 1 John 2:3, 1 John 3:14, 1 John 3:19, 1 John 3:24, 1 John 5:20 Being saved is not based on a feeling. People will cling to things that has no bearing on their salvation. Their church upbringing, works and even love towards others will never be enough for salvation. People that are saved know they are saved because the same powerful God that created everything around us lives inside them. The Spirit will bare witness with others Spirit. Everyone that is saved should have a personal testimony on how God saved them. John was there with Jesus throughout His entire life, from birth to death. People usually will not die for something that's not true. 1 John 1:1-3  John walked and talked with Jesus but we do not need the flesh to know that His Spirit lives inside you. You will only be saved after your eyes are opened to your sins, realizing you are lost. After that, God must call you to be saved, the Truth must speak to you.
Preached by Tommy Boring on November 2, 2014 (Sunday Morning).
Supposing He Is With Us
Luke 2:40-45 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
Sin has a price. For a moment sin seems good but in the end, the price is death. Disobedience to the Word of God not only hurts ourselves but it hurts our loved ones. Never give the devil a place to start in your life. Remove pride from yourselves and humble yourselves. We are to love God above anything else and to keep His commandments. If you're saved and you're out in the world, sin will accumulate in your heart. We are to ask God to cleans us each day. As long as we obey Him, He is with us. We are to share Jesus.
Preached by Rick Rutherford on January 15, 2014 (Wednesday).
Happy, Happy, Happy
Psalm 128:1-6 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
Besides the worldly things in life, everyone wants to be happy. Fear God and put Him first and you can be happy. It doesn't take money, relationships, job, career, etc to be happy. Happiness is but fleeting with most due to the material things they think they need to be happy. The condition of your soul is what makes you a happy person.
Preached by Tommy Boring on December 2, 2012 (Sunday Evening).
Get Over Yourself
Matthew 16:24-28 (Part of the 210th Original Tennessee Association of Primitive Baptist series).
Deny yourself of couch time, worldly things and self. It's time to wake up and get to work for Christ. Start following what the bible says and go out and compel them to come in. Give yourself to God and work for Him. Do all that you can to reach the lost. If you truly loved Jesus then you would kneel and pray, you would love your neighbors and would deny yourself comfort. Following Jesus isn't easy just as the cross was difficult to bare. It's great to live under the grace period but its a higher standard to give it all for His glory. God doesn't want your leftovers, He wants your very best. We need to support one another that is in the ministry. Love is more that just words. If you truly love your people then you'll put action behind it. You can't reap what you don't sow.
Preached by Jeff Patton on October 13, 2012 (Association Morning 2).
