Long Suffering But Not Ever Suffering
2 Peter 3:3-10 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
God only promised one opportunity to be saved, only one time will He invite you. We should be thankful for the chastening that God does to us. The chastening indicates that He loves us and wants what's best for us in His image. God shows us patience over and over and yet He doesn't have to. There are times we as Christians choose to go against what God has told us to do. During those times of disobedience God is longsuffering to us. At times we seem to think that if we can't see Him then we won't get caught, just the same as a child acts away from their parents. But God is all knowing and can see everywhere and everything. During those times of disobedience there will come a time where Gods longsuffering will come to an end and He will draw a line in the sand. He will show up when you're least expecting Him and place a stopping point. If you choose to step over the line that He has drawn then you've forced Him to remove the problem. Just as a disobedient child and a loving parent. The child will be warned to obey but there will come a time when the child disobeys to the point that the parent must intervene and remove the child's pleasures. If you're a child of a God and are living in disobedience, it's no surprise when He deals with you. God is raising children and He is trying to grow us into His likeness. If you're walking thru your Christian life and you know God is chastening you, count it a blessing because you're one of His. Gods patiences does and will run out. Don't push Him till His patiences runs out on you.
Preached by Bruce Whitehead on March 7, 2018 (Wednesday).
Don't Eat The Slop!
Galatians 1:1-24 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
There are two gospels being preached in this world today. One of self righteousness and freedom of judgement, the other is the gospel of Christ. There is only ONE way to salvation or Heaven and that's through Jesus Christ. The devil knows your weakness and will put those things in front of you to draw you and temp you to get away from Christ. Follow Jesus and He will give you peace, joy and happiness. Family can only help you so much. Family can be by your bedside while you die by Christ will be with you then and after you pass. Does sin look good when it first comes to you? The devil wants to pull you down where he is. All the men in the bible are just like we are. The exception is that they stepped out on faith and did what Jesus asked. The world wants you to compromise with sin. Disobedient to God is sin. People do not want preaching that cuts them, they want something that just tickles their ears. We need to share Gods Word. Don't wait until judgment and your neighbor asks you, "Why didn't you tell me, warn me about hell?"
Preached by Matthew Adams on August 20, 2014 (Wednesday).
Desire + Will = ?
John 14:12-16 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
There is one thing in a Christians life that can't be done enough and that's prayer. Before one can be born again, one must pray. When we pray, we should pray in Gods will. We should always ask what Gods will is in our lives. We should be willing to do what God tells us to do. Nothing that we do is good unless it's through Gods will. We need more help today than we have ever needed. We need to stop asking God to do them and start asking God what He wants us to do. What is Gods will? 2 Peter 9 His will is to seek those that are lost. God wants our very best and not our leftovers. God asks us to lay down our lives as a living sacrifice. That means we need to give it ALL. We are naked before God. We might be able to hide the sins from our neighbors but God sees each and every sin. John 16:23-24 Do you have joy in your prayer? It's a blessing that we get to go to Gods throne room and ask Him directly for our loved ones. John 15:7-10 We don't have power in our prayers because we choose to do what we want to. John 15:16 We should show fruit of that of a Christian to those around you. What could happen if Gods desire plus Gods will could equal to?
Preached by Jeff Patton on April 23, 2014 (Wednesday).
Does God Hear Your Prayer?
Jonah 1:1-9 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
If we could get into the right frame of mind, we would see things to begin to happen. Jonah was in just the same shape as the world is in now. He was disobedient to God. We say our prayers each day or night but did we actually mean it or think about it? Did you really think about what God has done for you? Too many times we are afraid to talk to God because we are afraid of what He will say to us. We need to get like Jonah and get serious with God. Has God asked you to do something but you've refused? God wants us to talk to Him, seriously, not flippantly. Jonah didn't have to ask if God heard him, he knew in his soul that God answered him. Stop throwing your prayers in the air and hoping God catches them. God gave us salvation and then we sit down on it. Picture your friends, children, family and everyone else you know burning in hell for eternity. Is that serious? Then get serious with God!
Preached by Steve Whitehead on July 3, 2013 (Wednesday).
How Serious Are You?
Isaiah 55:1-5 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
Serious was tearing the roof off when you couldn't get through the door. It was casting all you had of two mites. It was laying your head on a chopping block knowing it was over. We love a life of ease and pleasure. We expect a hand out without working. We are usually more concerned with our own flesh than others. Yet we expect God to save but we take our relationship with Him for granted. Have you ever thought about the crazy love that God has for you? The greatest commandment that God gave us was for us to love Him back with ALL our hearts. Is your heart divided? Do you realize that most of the things we do each day doesn't matter? When you truly love God, you will want to do what God tells you. People attend church and never feel or do anything but leave saying they served God. Do you love God more than food? Then go without it a day or two. Do you love Jesus more than entertainment? Did you look for your cell phone before you came to church tonight? How about your bible? How many things are more important to you than God? What if God told you He was going to take those things away? How bad do you really want God to move and be in your life? Relationships are closer if work is involved for each other. Are you working for God? Do you brush your teeth or take a shower longer than you read your bible? You can tell God all day long that you love Him, but never show it. Love is an action, show Him that you love Him. Do you love Jesus? Do you really? Is your love conditional, you need Him only when something is wrong in your life?
Preached by Tommy Boring on May 22, 2013 (Wednesday).
