Long Suffering But Not Ever Suffering
2 Peter 3:3-10 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
God only promised one opportunity to be saved, only one time will He invite you. We should be thankful for the chastening that God does to us. The chastening indicates that He loves us and wants what's best for us in His image. God shows us patience over and over and yet He doesn't have to. There are times we as Christians choose to go against what God has told us to do. During those times of disobedience God is longsuffering to us. At times we seem to think that if we can't see Him then we won't get caught, just the same as a child acts away from their parents. But God is all knowing and can see everywhere and everything. During those times of disobedience there will come a time where Gods longsuffering will come to an end and He will draw a line in the sand. He will show up when you're least expecting Him and place a stopping point. If you choose to step over the line that He has drawn then you've forced Him to remove the problem. Just as a disobedient child and a loving parent. The child will be warned to obey but there will come a time when the child disobeys to the point that the parent must intervene and remove the child's pleasures. If you're a child of a God and are living in disobedience, it's no surprise when He deals with you. God is raising children and He is trying to grow us into His likeness. If you're walking thru your Christian life and you know God is chastening you, count it a blessing because you're one of His. Gods patiences does and will run out. Don't push Him till His patiences runs out on you.
Preached by Bruce Whitehead on March 7, 2018 (Wednesday).
There's a Point and Time
(Part of the 220th Original Tennessee Association of Primitive Baptist series).
God doesn't work on people's time. God set a time to meet with us. There was a time when parents would punish their children because they ran off. Now the parents tell their children to leave them alone and go somewhere else besides around them. We all need to wake up and realize that there is a point in time that we will all die. Acts 2:16-20 Where do you think we are at today? John 11:35 What does that have to do with appointed time? Jesus wept because He loved. We should be doing the same in this time. Though our loved ones in lost we should shed tears for them and love them. Just because the time is getting close, don't give up and quit. If you don't have enough love in your heart to shed a tear for a lost person, what's wrong with you? Do you remember the time when you were saved?
Preached by Ricky Boring on October 11, 2014 (Association Morning 2).
Do We Have the Mind of Christ?
Numbers 12:1-16 (Part of the 220th Original Tennessee Association of Primitive Baptist series).
You shouldn't believe everything you see or hear. God wants you to get off the milk and start eating the meat. We have some churches that do not have a minister because of self pity. Who knows the mind of God? Stop looking at others and completely dismissing what God has to say. Do you ever worry that something will fail? If Gods in it, it will never fail. You are enough if you let God work in your life. Having a firewood ministry s physically hard work, but it isn't enough. When Jesus was walking on earth, He only did what His father told Him to do. He didn't do what He wanted to do. There is nothing in your way that keeps you from doing Gods work. Doing one big thing for God is not the end, it's only the beginning. Those that work know that when you bring home one large paycheck don't sit home and call it done the next day. Christians that feel blessed today don't need to take a break tomorrow.
Preached by Jeff Whitehead on October 10, 2014 (Association Morning 2).
Don't Eat The Slop!
Galatians 1:1-24 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
There are two gospels being preached in this world today. One of self righteousness and freedom of judgement, the other is the gospel of Christ. There is only ONE way to salvation or Heaven and that's through Jesus Christ. The devil knows your weakness and will put those things in front of you to draw you and temp you to get away from Christ. Follow Jesus and He will give you peace, joy and happiness. Family can only help you so much. Family can be by your bedside while you die by Christ will be with you then and after you pass. Does sin look good when it first comes to you? The devil wants to pull you down where he is. All the men in the bible are just like we are. The exception is that they stepped out on faith and did what Jesus asked. The world wants you to compromise with sin. Disobedient to God is sin. People do not want preaching that cuts them, they want something that just tickles their ears. We need to share Gods Word. Don't wait until judgment and your neighbor asks you, "Why didn't you tell me, warn me about hell?"
Preached by Matthew Adams on August 20, 2014 (Wednesday).
Desire + Will = ?
John 14:12-16 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
There is one thing in a Christians life that can't be done enough and that's prayer. Before one can be born again, one must pray. When we pray, we should pray in Gods will. We should always ask what Gods will is in our lives. We should be willing to do what God tells us to do. Nothing that we do is good unless it's through Gods will. We need more help today than we have ever needed. We need to stop asking God to do them and start asking God what He wants us to do. What is Gods will? 2 Peter 9 His will is to seek those that are lost. God wants our very best and not our leftovers. God asks us to lay down our lives as a living sacrifice. That means we need to give it ALL. We are naked before God. We might be able to hide the sins from our neighbors but God sees each and every sin. John 16:23-24 Do you have joy in your prayer? It's a blessing that we get to go to Gods throne room and ask Him directly for our loved ones. John 15:7-10 We don't have power in our prayers because we choose to do what we want to. John 15:16 We should show fruit of that of a Christian to those around you. What could happen if Gods desire plus Gods will could equal to?
Preached by Jeff Patton on April 23, 2014 (Wednesday).
