The Work of the Minister (Part 5)
2 Peter 1:12-15 (Part of the 2 Peter 1 series).
Ministers should be diligent. Seeking after not after their own agendas but after God's. We all should not neglect concerning the Word of God. The Word of God is not anything new. The job of the pastor is not to create something new about God. The pastors job is to teach and to remind us of the same Word that we already know. Of course there maybe someone that are hearing the Word for the first time whether taught this way or brought this way. It's not the pastors job to entertain to keep your attention. God makes the same story new or refreshing to each of our souls. Our church is in agreement that the bible we use is the King James Version. If you want to stay in order and not be confused, our pastor will be preaching from that version. There are many times that we don't pick up the bible to study so there must be times that we must be stirred up. There is not a single person that knows when they will die. Therefore the message is urgent to remind everyone that you WILL die and you MUST be prepared to die. Settle your salvation. The heart of a real pastor is to empty himself of every Word that God would give him. So what could we be reminded of? Phil 2:8-11 Jesus is Christ the son of God. 1 Tim 1:15, Romans 5:8 Jesus came to save the lost. Romans 10:9, John 3:16 Those that believe in Him shall be saved. Titus 3:8 Those that are saved should live that way. 1 Thes 4:16-18 God is coming back.
Preached by Tommy Boring on December 13, 2015 (Sunday Morning).
There's a Point and Time
(Part of the 220th Original Tennessee Association of Primitive Baptist series).
God doesn't work on people's time. God set a time to meet with us. There was a time when parents would punish their children because they ran off. Now the parents tell their children to leave them alone and go somewhere else besides around them. We all need to wake up and realize that there is a point in time that we will all die. Acts 2:16-20 Where do you think we are at today? John 11:35 What does that have to do with appointed time? Jesus wept because He loved. We should be doing the same in this time. Though our loved ones in lost we should shed tears for them and love them. Just because the time is getting close, don't give up and quit. If you don't have enough love in your heart to shed a tear for a lost person, what's wrong with you? Do you remember the time when you were saved?
Preached by Ricky Boring on October 11, 2014 (Association Morning 2).
Be Patient
James 5:7-8 (Part of the Spiritual Maturity series).
Instant results are expected in today's time. If we lack patience it's our fault for not growing up. Has God ever failed you? It's just not fair that all these rich people live for the devil and gain everything. We worry and stress because we don't see results immediately. Tribulation works patience, patience works experience, experience works hope and hope makes us not ashamed.
Preached by Tommy Boring on July 22, 2012 (Sunday Morning).
