Loved By The Shepherd
Psalm 23:1-6 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
God doesn't give you everything that you just want. However God will grant you the things that you need. Every living thing God cares for and they never have to worry about anything but God loves us more that those things. Man wasn't meant to work 7 days a week. We are to rest at least one day. God understand the importance of spiritual rest. If you follow God He will give you the rest that you need. He will provide the spiritual rest. God knows exactly what you need and will lead you in the right path if only you follow Him. We must obey him. No matter where we go God will always be there even in death. The rod and staff where one of the same. The rod is used to pull you back, to rescue. The staff is used in chastening to teach and to show love. Your enemies have no power over you. The obvious is the devil but think about your flesh. Our flesh is the worst enemy that we have.

The Love That Compels
2 Corinthians 5:11-18 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
It's the love of Christ that has changed those that are Christians. There are many that are not one of His which causes a lot of confusion amongst people however, in the end of time God will separate those from His.

The love of Christ should be what motivates us. People wonder what makes Christians do what they do but it's the love of Christ. There are many that claim their works are for Christ but many of them will be turned away at their death. One thing is that we are to love our neighbors. It makes no difference about what they may have done to you because we are to forgive them. When we try to do things on our own we will run out of fuel at some point because it's us doing it not Christ. The love of Christ will cause one to move across country simply to love on someone.we had nothing to do with Christ's love. He came first to love us first.

One can't love or know what love truly is until they've been born again. A Christian doesn't work for Christ because we want to or out of duty but because He compels us to love. Christ gave ALL He had, He gave His life. He did this because He loved you and yet most still feel He still owes us something else.

Prepare Our Hearts For The Ditch
Luke 10:25-37 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
Lack of compassion, mercy and love. It must be things that are done but not said. A lot of us are talkers but not doers. Anyone can love someone that loves them back but on the flip side it's loving those that don't love back. If we loved as God loves it wouldn't matter about race, money or class. Luke 6:27-36 how many of those can you say you've gotten right and done them according to His word? It's not in a humans mind to be kind to those that hurt us. An excerpt from "Fresh Wind, Fresh Fire" -Jim Cymbala "Dear God, I know that You died for everyone in my community. I know You suffered, bled and died for every human being walking outside my church. So Lord, tomorrow I pray in the Name of Jesus, by the power of the Holy Spirit, call them in; any color, homeless, poor. Bring them in. We'll love them. We'll be Your hand extended to them. We will nurse them. We will bless them. We will weep over them. Send them in, O God, in Jesus' Name." Are you willing to say that prayer? No one was worthy of his love and we were all in the lowest of lowest. When the sinner does come in they all come in, in all forms. We often have stereotyped the unclean and the visual appearance of those that we feel are unworthy of a Gods and our love. Sin comes in a suit and tie or in nothing at all, tattoos from head to toe or not a tattoo at all, from the cleanest to the dirtiest, from no hair to the longest hair. This world is nasty, dirty and stinks but God called us to love the sinners just as He loves them. The problem is that there are no workers, no one to love them that are in the nastiest of ditches. We try to say that we don't have a neighbor but what God says that your neighbor is ANYONE that you pass or meet. Don't we like to make excuses to why we can't help because we've got something to do, we are too busy? We should go out to the hedges, where people hang out and do things in secret and try to bring them to Christ. An excerpt from "Fresh Wind, Fresh Fire" -Jim Cymbala I've been rebuked by the Lord many times because what I am preaching to you, I've had to learn. I will tell you the story of how God corrected me one day. On Easter Sunday some years ago, we had an outreach in the last service, and a girl in the choir which Carol, my wife, conducts gave her testimony in between some of the songs. She had been saved out of deep sin. Then I preached the Gospel. People came forward. At that time we were having three services a day, each two hours long. That Easter Sunday I was so tired at the end of the day that I just went to the edge of the platform, pulled down my tie and sat down and draped my feet over the edge. The prayer workers were praying for people I had invited to receive Christ. I was sitting there bone tired. There had been lines outside. We had turned hundreds of people away for lack of space. As I was sitting there I looked up the middle aisle, and there in about the third row was a man who looked about fifty, disheveled, filthy. He looked up at me rather sheepishly, as if saying, "Could I talk to you?" We have homeless people coming in all the time, asking for money or whatever. So as I sat there, I said to myself, though I am ashamed of it, "What a way to end a Sunday. I've had such a good time, preaching and ministering, and here's a fellow probably wanting some money for more wine." He walked up. When he got within about five feet of me, I smelled a horrible smell like I'd never smelled in my life. It was so awful that when he got close, I would inhale by looking away, and then I'd talk to him, and then look away to inhale, because I couldn't inhale facing him. I asked him, "What's your name?" "David." "How long have you been on the street?" "Six years." "How old are you?" "Thirty-two." He looked fifty; hair matted; front teeth missing; wino; eyes slightly glazed. "Where did you sleep last night, David?" "Abandoned truck." I keep in my back pocket a money clip that also holds some credit cards. I fumbled to pick one out thinking, I'll give him some money. I won't even get a worker. They are all busy praying with others. Usually we don't give money to people. We take them to get something to eat. I took the money out. David pushed his finger in front of me. He said, "I don't want your money. I want this Jesus this girl was talking about, the One you were talking about, because I'm not going to make it. I'm going to die on the street." I completely forgot about David, and I started to weep for myself. I was going to give a couple dollars to someone God had sent to me. See how easy it is? I could make the excuse I was tired. There is no excuse. I was not filled with the Spirit. I was not seeing him the way God sees him. I was not feeling what God feels. But oh, did that change! David just stood there. He didn't know what was happening. I pleaded with God, "God, forgive me! Forgive me! Please forgive me. I am so sorry to represent You this way. I'm so sorry. Here I am with my message and my points, and You send somebody and I am not ready for it. Oh, God!" And God baptized me afresh with love. Something came over me. Suddenly I started to weep deeper, and David began to weep because he could feel what was happening in me. He fell against my chest as I was sitting there. He fell against my white shirt and tie, and I put my arms around him, and there we wept on each other. The smell of His person became a beautiful aroma. Here is what I thought the Lord made real to me: if you and Carol don't love this smell, I can't use you, because this is why I called you where you are. This is what you are about. You are about this smell. It's beautiful. Christ changed David's life. He started memorizing portions of Scripture that were incredible. We got him a place to live. We hired him in the church to do maintenance, and we got his teeth fixed. He was a handsome man when he came out of the hospital. They detoxed him in about six days. He spent that Thanksgiving at my house. He also spent Christmas at my house. When we were exchanging presents, he pulled out a little thing and he said, "This is for you." It was a little white hanky. It was the only thing he could afford. A year later I had him give his testimony. The minute he took the mic and began to speak, I said, "The man is a preacher." This past Easter I helped ordain David. He's an associate pastor of a church in New Jersey. And I was so close to saying, "Here, take this; I'm a busy preacher." We can get so full of ourselves.

The Wiles of the Devil
Ephesians 6:10-18 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
Satan is a created being and is no different than the angels in heaven. Satan has many tactics that he uses on the children of God on a daily basis. The thief has come to steal, kill and destroy. The thief is the devil and the wicked spirits that serve him. Their are enough to spread across the world. The devil does not have free rein of a christian because we are protected by the shield of God. John 10:10, 2 Cor 2:11, Eph 6:16, 1 Peter 5:8 We truly have an enemy and we can not stand in the flesh to fight him. It takes something greater than the flesh to fight him because he is in the sprint therefore must be fought in the spirit. He is not omnipresent but has many demons that do his handy-work. This world currently is the devils domain until Jesus comes back. The very thing that we live in, the flesh, wants to live in the world because of it’s lust. Nothing has changed since Adam and Eve because he is still deceiving and lying to people everyday. What a terrifying thing to be able to see with our eyes the spiritual warfare that goes on all around us. If we are saved then we are protected by Gods great hand and satan can not get to us unless God allows it. When Jesus died, He died for ALL but many will not submit to Him. If you’re playing with the devil he will take you further than you ever thought you would go quicker than you ever thought. When you light a match and place that flame under your hand, you will pull your hand back because there is a nerve that warns you of danger. Just as that nerve warns you, God also warns you of the dangers of the devil. Satan wants to destroy your testimony if you’re saved. Satan will use anything he can to tear you down. He will use religion itself to bring you down. If you are saved then you’re going to heaven but that doesn’t mean that if you play with the devil that he will keep people around you lost and going into hell. We hear it everyday, pastors having affairs because satan laid a woman in their lives. We as humans are ignorant to satan’s lies and deceptions.

Fiery Darts and Woodpeckers
Ephesians 6:10-18 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
We should take the shield of faith with us to protect ourselves from the enemy. There is no armor for your back, it's all up front. The enemy wants you dead to stop you from doing Gods work. A lot of times we don't want to follow Gods commandments but that's just a fiery dart for the devil. When Adam and Eve was in Th the garden the devil twisted the truth and turned it into a lie in order for Eve to be tricked into eating the fruit. When your shield becomes damaged you must get it fixed. In order to to repair your shield of faith you must repent of your sins. People are dying every day trying to feel good with drugs but all they need is the ultimate drug from Christ and it's His Joy. In four places of the bible God tells us that we should have strong faith. We should ask God to strengthen our faith because we have not because we ask not. Whatever you need fro God we should ask Him for it. Everyone wants to strengthen their relationship with the boyfriend, girlfriend or spouse but when it comes to God their relationship seems to be a weak one. Whether you realize or not, a person is being attacked by the devil all the time. They are trying to shut down the Christian churches not because of money but because of the name of Jesus being mentioned. There is power in the name of Jesus.
