Stopping The Voices
Psalm 40:1-4 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
David endured physical afflictions and he often prayed about them. Also, he prayed for his enemies. Just as he, discouragement affects us all and it all begins in our minds.

God can hear you as long as you have repented and hold no inequity in our hearts. If God granted every prayer we asked Him instantly then He would surely be our spare tire. But God makes us wait thru patience.

Our mind is liken to a horrible pit full of never ending noise. We can not stop it no matter what we do and try. Always thinking, always listening, always wondering and doubting. The miry clay being depression that our mind will usually begin to think about if we don't put our minds at ease thru Christ. People today are screaming to be rescued from their own minds.

The clearest your mind will ever be is when you allow God to work in your mind. Prayer can bring clarity and remove the doubt in our minds. Not only will God clear your mind and ease it but He will also place you on something solid that you DO know.

How many have things are rolling around in your mind that you can't get rid of? A grudge against someone? Worried about a sickness? Stressed about a lived one?

For a child of God we are not a victim but a victor! We choose everyday which one you want to be.

Strength for the Journey (Part 1)
1 Kings 19:1-8 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
Elijah was being prosecuted for his belief. One normally thinks that if one does wrong, being treated wrongly, one deserves it. However, the opposite of that is if one thinks they done nothing wrong, they shouldn't be done wrongly. God has called us into a work but not in order to do them by ourselves. When you put yourself away from the people of God then you've isolated yourself from help and have invited the devil to attack you. Once you've isolated yourself you begin to find yourself alone and depressed. You'll quickly find yourself giving up on the battle. Once you've given up on the battle, you'll just want to die. At the heart of the issue, it's that you've given up on God. You began to accuse God thinking that you know what's better. BUT God has never stopped loving you or given up on you. The first thing to do to get out of the rut, is to do whatever God tells you to do.

Stick To It!
Psalm 119:25-32 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
There are times when one feels like they are closer to the dust of the earth than the height of the sky. We are down and depressed and feel worthless. But we should call on God to lift us up and it will if we ask. We should always confess our sins to God and ask for forgiveness. We should stay teachable before God. Some can remember entire songs, poems and even quotes but if we can't remember the bible there is a problem in our life. We should have a desire to be taught by God and to surrender to Him. We should ask God to remove the lies from our minds. The lies that the enemy whispers to us and we believe them. We are all liars. If we don't lie to others we often lie to ourselves. There comes a time when you'll have to chose your path and commit to it.

Bitter Lemons into Sweet Lemonade
Psalm 130:1-6 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
Romans 5:3-4 When we see ourselves we see the faults but we mask them from everyone else. We are all human and by being humans, we all have faults. How many times have you felt like you had no other choice but to cry rout for Gods help? How long will we live as if we have control over anything? Don't despise the trials and the difficulties in life, cry out to God for help. You will only grow when you're in the valley. If you've been a Christian for any length of time, you've been to the depths of a trial. God will take away everything around you that you depend on until there is nothing else but Him for you to depend on. If you've been saved then you've got a father that knows ALL things. Stop blaming everything on the devil that's bad. God puts you through trials to build your faith. The blind man wasn't born blind because of sin, he was born blind for the Glory of God.

The Joy of The Lord is Strength
Nehemiah 8:5-10 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
Does the Word of God affect you? Do you mostly live in the dumps being depressed. There will be times that you will be challenged in regards to your happiness. Worldly things will quickly lead to unhappiness. Repentance brings joy, (Luke 15:7). Obedience brings joy (John 15:11). If you are not bearing fruit, then you've not been saved. Joy is just a blink away. Faith brings joy (John16:24). In order to ask God for something we must have faith. A grafted limb doesn't have to struggle to produce fruit, it's just a limb. The limb relies on the trunk, the source to provide its strength. Just as with us, if we would just let Jesus take control and do what He asks, we would have Joy. If you are still having a depressed, unjoyful life, just think of your heavenly home (Luke 6:23). If your name has been written in the Lambs Book of Life, then you've got Hope that will bring you Joy (Luke 10:20). If you stay in His presence or are simply in His presence, Joy will also be there (Psalm 16:11).
Preached by Tommy Boring on October 13, 2013 (Sunday Evening).
