The Value of Prayer
1 John 5:14-17 (Part of the Does He Abide Within? series).
We most often time do not value the cost that it took for us to pray directly to God. Jesus had to die for us to have the right to come before God. When the temple vail was torn in two, God was saying "come in". We satisfy the flesh daily, hourly with the objects of the world. We often want others to pray for us but we have the ability to pray directly. God knows exactly what you need and He gives you things that you've never asked for, but He still says ask. We as parents will teach our children to ask with words the things that they wish to have. We as Gods children should also ask through prayer. In order for God to hear our requests there are a couple of things that must take place first. First is that we must ask, pray. Second, we must NOT have sin in our lives. He will NOT hear you if you've got sin in your heart. We must also keep ALL of the commandments. Today you might be on the mountain and everything going well but, when difficulties occur, do you call the preacher? Jesus Himself said that whatever you ask in His name, it will be given to you. A blank check if you will. But, you must first be doing HIS will. The greatest answered prayer is the one where He saves a soul. God is not your butler or maid. The time to pray is not when tragedy hits, it's before it happens. Gods will is unknown to us. His will is what will be answered. We might want that perfect job but if it's not in Gods will, it will not happen. We must ask according to Gods will and everything will fall into place. In order to know that our prayers are heard we must be right with God. How do you know that God hears your prayer? Matthew 7 If we as a sinful people try our best to give what our children want, how much MORE does God love us and gives to us? Nothing, no one can compare to the love that God has for ALL of us. Prayer is important to our lives. It's communication between us and our God. It can be done anywhere and at any time. It pleases God to bless you. We as Christians should not be quick to judge our fellow brethren, but to pray for them. The greatest gift that can  be given to someone else is prayer.

What Kind Of Relationship Do You Have With God?
James 4:8 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
After sin came into the world, God no longer walked with man in peace. Why do people look at you funny when you tell them that you speak to God and He answers back? Most people only talk to God when things get bad and they need help. A relationship requires that you give and you talk with the other person. The devil has all kinds of distractions to remove the relationship with a God. Goliath insulted David's best friend, his God and he did not like that. What does it take to have a relationship with God? You have to want the relationship first. God doesn't look at sin therefore you must cleanse yourself of the sin and purify your heart through repentance. We seem to think that keeping sins hidden from others means that God doesn't know about them. Best friends communicate and will tell each other things that no one else will ever know. Best friends will do anything for each other and will stand up for each other. Is God your best friend?

Think Before You Speak
Philippians 1:25-30 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
Everything will simply work out if we just obey God. It may nor be that every time we meet that someone gets saved, but the Word does not go out void. We don't always like to hear the Word of God but we should always be thankful and take it to heart. Once you've been convicted and you realize you're lost, it shouldn't take long for you to begin asking how to be saved. There are things that Christians should take head to. One of those is our conversation, our tongue. You should always stand behind what you say. Our tongue should not rule our lives and others in a negative way. We should have FULL control of our tongues. The flesh is contrary to good. Be careful around your children and what you say about about another. Do not teach them to speak about others negatively.

A Thirst For God
Psalm 42:1-11 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
John 7:37 In order to thirst for God we must first be without God. The world provides us a drink but it is not quenching. The world no longer thirsts after God. Do you hunger more for God than you do the things of the world? If you don't love God on Monday then you won't love Him on Sunday. The things that the devil gives does not nurture the soul. If you don't love Jesus then everything else will fall apart. If you go to church for any reason other than you love God, then you're going for the wrong reason. When you eat too much of the world you will begin to get full and no longer hunger for God. Because of the abundance of "church" and freedom we've become uncaring and too comfortable to love God. Wednesday night services is the icing on the cake for our worship. Are you gospel hardened? When times get hard and barren, thank God for it. There are some of us that need to be brought down in order for us to see that God is truly all we need. Pray that God makes you thirsty because if you are thirsty you will hunt for God.

Why Don't You Pray?
Luke 18:1-8 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
Prayer is a simple concept but is rarely used. Prayer is talking to God. One purpose of prayer is to call on God. The second is the possibility of prayer. Hebrews 7:24-25 When you pray, you do not do it alone. Romans 8:26 We know that we have someone that knows what we can't describe and yet we do not talk to Him. Why won't we pray more? Because the flesh will not allow it. The persistence of prayer is important. Do you pray enough? Romans 12:12 We should be praying throughout the entire day. Ephesians 6:18 your physical posture has nothing to do with prayer, however, your humbleness of your heart does. Prayer should have a privacy. Matthew 6:6 Prayer should be between you and Him. Someone else's prayer is their prayer, not yours. The preacher can not say a prayer for you. Is their power in prayer? Mathew 7:7 Have you asked? Mathew 21:22 Not only should you ask, but believe.
