Are You Nearsighted Or Farsighted?
Philippians 2:1-4 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
We should love others more than ourselves. 1 Cor 13 We should be seeking after others to love. Just like our children and our spouse, we will sacrifice to get the things they want. If we are sharing the gospel with others, who is? Jesus' actions where nothing more than His love towards us. It's high time that we as children of God to change and love others more than ourselves. We take what Christ did for us for granted. Just as Jesus in the Garden of Gasemity, seeking and loving others is difficult at times. Do you like your church just the way it is? Do it all for love, no other motivation should be at the thought.
Preached by Bruce Whitehead on March 29, 2015 (Sunday Evening).
Do You Wash Daily?
John 13:2-15 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
Not only do we need to give but we also need to receive. Once you've become saved, you've become a new creature, no longer wanting the evil of the world. If you don't repent to God, then you'll have no part of Him. Those that do things for themselves, the Truth is not in them. We should be drawing closer everyday of our lives to God. If God has forgiven you, then you should also forgive others. If you know of something that needs to be fixed amongst you and a brother, you'll hold everyone else back until it's fixed between you and that person. Ephesians 4:31-32
Preached by Rick Rutherford on December 10, 2014 (Wednesday).
What Kind Of Relationship Do You Have With God?
James 4:8 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
After sin came into the world, God no longer walked with man in peace. Why do people look at you funny when you tell them that you speak to God and He answers back? Most people only talk to God when things get bad and they need help. A relationship requires that you give and you talk with the other person. The devil has all kinds of distractions to remove the relationship with a God. Goliath insulted David's best friend, his God and he did not like that. What does it take to have a relationship with God? You have to want the relationship first. God doesn't look at sin therefore you must cleanse yourself of the sin and purify your heart through repentance. We seem to think that keeping sins hidden from others means that God doesn't know about them. Best friends communicate and will tell each other things that no one else will ever know. Best friends will do anything for each other and will stand up for each other. Is God your best friend?
Preached by Bruce Whitehead on November 2, 2014 (Sunday Evening).
Stand in the Gap
Ezekiel 22:23-31 (Part of the 220th Original Tennessee Association of Primitive Baptist series).
There have been many men and women in history that didn't budge from their Christian faith. In today's time just as in bible times, people are standing behind pulpits and claiming a false religion. We as Christians must stand in the gap. God doesn't expect you to do some great extraordinary thing. He just wants us to obey Him, stand in the gap. What does it mean to stand in the gap? It means that you must have a strong prayer life. It means you must stand on the Word of God. Don't rely on someone else to tell you what the bible means. Could you quote the most common scripture in the bible, John 3:16? Are you willing to take your place in the hedge by standing in the gap? Why should we stand in the gap? Because God did it for you. Our churches are shrinking because no one wants to stand in the gap. Are you dependent on others like you preacher, deacon, Sunday school teacher to do your part? The ones that you depend on will not be around forever.
Preached by Bruce Whitehead on October 10, 2014 (Association Evening 1).
Do You Remember When?
(Part of the 220th Original Tennessee Association of Primitive Baptist series).
Preaching and praying are the same when it comes to you can't do it enough. Why are people not coming to church? It's you're fault as a Christian. Are you waiting until the Spirit tells you do talk to someone? I think the Spirit has just went and left you if your waiting on it. We all need a burden. The problem is that we don't have burdens anymore. The devil has whipped the Christians down to nothing. If you let satan he will take everything away from you that helps you grow with Christ. Do you remember when Jesus was born? Do you remember when Jesus Jesus was crucified? Do you remember when Jesus rose from the grave? It doesn't look like we are gaining in the church. The guilt is all on us as Christians for NOT doing His will. Until we as Christians wake up and get concerned in our hearts for the lost, we will never see them saved. If you're a Christian then you MUST love everyone. Why must you love everyone, because HE is love and if you're saved HE lives inside you. When you come to church, go for yourself, prayed up and stop worrying about the folks sitting around you.
Preached by Bo Thomas on October 10, 2014 (Association Evening 2).
