Sin, the Separator
Jonah 1:1-2:10 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
|Sin will take you further than you ever wanted to go before you'll realize it. Jonah was told to spread Gods word but he refused to. Just in our own churches, many feel that it's only the pastors job to spread His word. Plain and simple we just don't want God to show up and show off. We are afraid of what God might do. We should all be more like the men in the upper room, expecting God to show up and do wonderful things!
One can try to hide from God but He always knows where you are and what you thinking. If your a saved person then you will answer for your sinful actions. God will get your attention in some way, whatever it takes. If you're a Christian and make he choice to live a sinful life, you will run away from God. Once you're on the run it will feel as if you're living out Hell on earth.

Luke 15:11-14 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
|A lot of us want things that we think we are owed. We were owed death and hell but God seen otherwise. Some of us question Gods word for us and think we know better. There is a place in your heart that needs filled and during your life you'll try to put things in that hole to try to fill it. Nothing in this world will ever fill that void. Jesus is the ONLY thing that's able to fill that void and He will never leave that void once it's filled with Him. Repeating a prayer, having a prayer prayed over you by the pastor or having your name on a church membership doesn't make you saved or fill that void. If you think you've struck a deal with God that gives you the ability to do what you want (sin) then you've been badly mistaken. You're in the wrong. God has a plan for everyone, it's just a matter of accepting His call in your life. If you avoid His call, He will try to get your attention. Sometimes it takes a lot, sometimes it takes very little to grab your attention. A lot of times folks are scared of what you'll have to give up once you turn your life over to God. God will never leave you and if He calls you, He WILL carry you thru whatever He's called you to do. What God has done for us is just beautiful. We ALL fall short of the Holiness of Gods Glory but repentance and forgiveness gets us closer and closer. When you ask for forgiveness and you get that forgiveness, God doesn't hold it over you but in fact gives the feasts of feasts because He loves you.
If there is someone that thinks that Hell is just a big party and not that it of deal, they're completely in the wrong. Hell is to be feared and there will never be a "party" but torments and a fire that will never burn up the flesh and will never cease.

There is Despair When There is No Success
1 Kings 19:1-18 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
Elijah prayed for rain and within hours it was raining but shortly after during his miracle the enemy came to him. The goal was not about rain, it was about men changing their hearts towards God. When the enemy came to Elijah he ran off away from the enemy. If a man like Elijah could be caught in a snare all the while in Gods miracles, how could we do it? Have you ever been there in great despair? Have you ever prayed, studied, worked and fasted but nothing happened? We can't make someone get saved, change them or make certain things happen by our doings. During Elijah's despair there was no body around to help him in his time of need. No one was their to help him see that God was still there when the enemy was punching him in the gut. In your work place, if you don't perform your job then there is no paycheck. But in God work, He already knows your work and your payout isn't truly based on your work. Think about when the preachers preach and the response is great from the congregation. But thinking about the same thing and on Sunday nights folks nap during the service. Have you as a church member ever thought about cancelling a church service because no one is there in attendance? Nothing gets done when we wallow in our disappointments. Have you ever known God not to be with you? Gods people will end up in despair at some point in their Christian walk but they always end up at Gods feet. God will pick them up and put them back on their journey each and every time. So when you get disappointed, you'll sit down, backslide.

Ruth 1:1-7 (Part of the Ruth 1 series).
Some think they can figure it out on their own without the help of God. But, what you sow you shall reap. Some will turn their back on the church for the smallest thing thinking they've made a good decision but, when they turn their back on the church they e turn towards the enemy. If one stays out in sin, there is a price to pay. If one has made a decision to turn their back on God, they've made a choice to take the consequences for their actions. One may think they'll just lay out of church this one time or do this one thing just once but it slowly turns into a long time, a more than once occasion. If a parent raises a child with the sins of the world, you'll raise a child thinking it all right to compromise God's Word. The devil will take everything you've got if you give him a little. Have you ever heard anyone say it was a good idea to turn from God?

Is the Proof in the Pudding?
Acts 26:1-30 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
How many times has God brought you to a place where you could share your testimony? A little salt brings out the flavor in food. If you've been saved then you have a personal experience, a testimony. There is power in your testimony but if you let the devil to come in to tear it down, it'll have no power. If you live your life like you're not saved and then decide to share your testimony, the lost will not hear it. Do you live your life if you've got a testimony? Is there action behind your testimony? Do you ever feel like you can't share your testimony? So has your salt lost its savor? Our testimony with God is the most important thing in our lives but we usually don't protect it like it is. If you've damaged your testimony it can be repaired.
