Why Have You Done This?
Jonah 1:1-17 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
Why did Jonah want to disobey God? It wasn't that he just wanted to rebel against God. He tried to get away from the presence of God. Our human flesh does not want to have anything to do with God. Have you ever looked in the mirror of self and wondered why you did a certain something? Why did Eve go out and do what God plainly told her the one thing not to do? Because of Adam and Eve we were cursed to die and suffer. Now we are not talking about the lost, we talk about the ones that are saved and know better. We could go down all of the scripture looking at all the followers of God and see where they made a choice to go against God. The reason that the saved can't keep themselves is because we are all sinners, we live in a sinful body. One can't sow a seed in the flesh and expect it to grow spiritual fruit. Even a farmer knows that he can't plant an apple seed expecting to grow an orange. Having a thought is not the sin, it's when the thought is acted upon is when sin is conceived. What's so appealing to the comfort of our bed, the softness of our pillows that causes us to not come to church on Sunday mornings? Every day Christians are making the choice to do what they want to do instead of turning their life back to God. Just as God prepared a fish for Jonah He will prepare something in the Christians life to turn them back. There is a time coming in a backslid Christians life that God will either turn you around or take you out. You're either running from God because you're lost or because you're backslid. If you keep going back to the sins of this world and can't seem to avoid those things that you're probably lost. Once you've been born a again you will not want to do those things because you're a changed person. Just as any good and loving parent will do God will also chasten His children when they do wrong. He does this because He loves His children and wants them to behave.
Preached by Tommy Boring on February 10, 2019 (Sunday Morning).
Get Ready And Give Thanks
Ezekiel 37:1-13 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
Many times we come to Gods house and we find ourselves not prepared. Romans 5:8, God loves His children and knew what we would do to run our backs to Him. BUT He still loves us. 1 Peter 5:7, we shouldn't try to fix the problems in our lives because He wants us to cast them on Him. Some times in our lives we go thru dry times and it's due to not being at Gods side. No matter what problem we have God has the answer for it. It may not be what we want the answer to be, but He knows the future and what is good for us. Have you ever taken the time to look back and see where you could have been with God coming into your life. Without God intervening in ours lives we would surely be in a heap of trouble. Christians shouldn't feel comfortable in this world because this isn't our home. John 3:8, have you ever felt His presence in such a way that it'll make you want to shout? A lot of people in the church come together to talk about the problems and become a social club. Instead of talking about each other we should be edifying the brethren. Be careful cause it only takes one time. One time to skip a church service, then you'll skip another, and another and before you know it you're out in the world and living a sinful life. Everyday that God gives you is a gift because it's not guaranteed.
Preached by Billy Hearon on January 30, 2019 (Wednesday).
Are You In Awe Of God?
Psalm 4:4 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
We all have people we are praying for. We must be in awe of God if you want them answered. Get yourself out of the way. Humble yourself, keep yourself lower than God. Your prayers are answered if your humble before Him but they may not be answered the way you think they should be. The breath you take is Gods, not yours. When God takes the breath away from you then that's it. You don't know when that will be. Once your breath is gone it's either Heaven or Hell. Hell is not a party place nor a place that you'll be temporarily.
Preached by Zachary Willis on August 12, 2018 (Sunday Morning).
Stay Away From Evil Things
1 Thessalonians 5:16-22 (Part of the The Need For Christian Duties series).
People don't want to hear this saying anymore. People want to live the way they want to, however they want and whenever they want. Once you're born again you are no longer yourself but holy. How many of you have damaged your testimony because you've messed with something that you know you shouldn't had? Did you know that people are watching you whether you want them to or not? To some people the only "bible" they know is thru your life. Staying away from evil cramps people's style.

Let's just be honest for just a minute, look in the mirror and you should see a person that has problems with staying away from evil. One of the hardest things to do is to control the tongue. The scripture doesn't just apply to the preachers or deacons. It was addressed to ALL Christians.

It's very difficult to get a persons confidence back after it's been lost. You're the one that the lost is watching and taking note on your actions. Christians have been pulled out of the world and therefore shouldn't be IN the world. The lost are constantly looking for hypocrites.

One must prove it first to make sure it's of a Godly nature. Do the "smell test". Stop and take the time to evaluate prior to doing them. There is no grey area when it comes to right or wrong. The grey area is created by us that wants to feel good about doing something wrong, therefore it would classified as wrong. The power of the church is based upon the faithfulness or life of its members. Phil 4:8, there are things that should be done in front of the lost.

One can't unscramble the eggs or put the toothpaste back into the tube. What do you do if you've messed things up with your testimony/life? Change, there is an expectation that each time you attend church there should be a change. When we change the lost will see it and want to know what's the difference. We should apologize to them for acting out wrong.

Get "Jonah" Out Of The Boat
Jonah 1:15-16 (Part of the Revival 2018 series).

There's not one person that's not been tempted. A lot of times we like to give credit to the devil, "the devil made me do it". We like to blame not doing something that God told us to do on ignorance.

Sin is willing to pay whatever price to get in your life. John 10:10, sin is willing to and so will you. Are you willing to make the payment as well? Sin is just pleasurable for just a season. Our season take of a quarter of the year, the rest is another. This means that the rest of the sin payment is three quarters longer.

Sin is just a downward spiral. Sin will pull you down further and further.

Sin will always pull you away from God. There's a wedge, a distance between you and God. You may have created some distance but God ALWAYS knows what you're doing and watching. God isn't going anywhere so if there is distance, you've created it.

Sin will cause destruction. You might bend for a little while but sin will begin to tear and destroy your life. Homes, families, lives, churches have all been destroyed because of sin.

Sin will get rid of the Godly things. The bible will go, the studying, the praying, holiness, righteousness, church attendance, kindness, tender hearted, forgiveness to others, these are all things that will be cast out if you keep the sin in your life.

Sin will sit back and laugh at you when you're fighting for everything you've got. It will run off and leave you deserted.

Sin will get so great that you won't be able to get rid of it. You must give the sin to God and He will rid it for you.

Romans 6:23, death is the payment for sin. We play with sin like a live grenade.

Preached by Anthony Morgan on June 9, 2018 (Revival).
