What Does it Take to Worship?
Nehemiah 8:1-2 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
Worship begins with self. A burden must take place before worship can begin. Anyone that has a hand, anyone that has a heart, do what God has called you to do. If you are a part of the body of Christ you should be shouting with joy. If God says it, then you can bank on it. If you have a grudge or anything that separates you from the brethren then you can not and will not have complete worship. In order to worship you must come expecting to worship. All you've got to do is ask God for more of Him. There are a lot of people that are simply satisfied with their salvation, but being satisfied is the problem with worship. Being saved should make you want more of Christ, not just some or a little.
Preached by Tommy Boring on April 8, 2015 (Wednesday).
Comparing a Big Mac to a Whopper
Nehemiah 1:5-7 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
People will do what they what just because they want to. The only thing has a problem with Gods laws is you and me. Whether you believe it or not the laws are still in place. If one is saved, God didn't save the flesh, He saved the soul. The flesh is sinful. How can one have victory when the sin pulls us down, because God is greater than the sin. How can one be a sinless person? Being sinful is part of our nature since the fall of Adam and Eve. Why is it offensive that you are a sinner, because it's the truth. We all have the ability to choose. There is a warfare going on everyday of our lives to do good versus evil. It's always there and will be. Have you ever wondered why we don't have a perfect church, because we as sinners keep showing up. You will never defeat the devil and sins by the outward man/flesh. There is but one cure or remedy for a sinner and that is to be able to get to God.
Preached by Tommy Boring on October 27, 2013 (Sunday Morning).
Weeping for a Soul
Nehemiah 1:1-4 (Part of the Miscellaneous series).
Examine yourself. If you were the only representative for the church of a God, what would they see? Would they see in you a desire for Jesus Christ? We often lose touch living in our concert able lifestyles of those that are dying and of those that are in need. How many of us are truly concerned of those that are lost? Jesus didn't come to make your life easy, heal you or for your pleasure. Those that do not win souls to salvation is foolish. How did we as Christians get so comfortable that we no longer work in the field? We are more concerned about what hurts our feelings, selfish. If the motivation is not about the souls of the lost, then STOP IT. The purpose of the church is to show others salvation and to bring them into salvation. When was the last time that you wept, mourned and fasted for a soul? Does it bother you that you know people, loved ones that are doing to hell? Why wait for God to tell you to go? He has already told you to go with the Great Commission.
