Who Is God In Your Life? (Isaiah 45:5-7, Isaiah 45:20-22)

Bruce WhiteheadBruce Whitehead, January 23, 2019
Part of the Miscellaneous series, preached at a Wednesday service

You need to ask yourself why you attend church. Some will say it's because you want to worship God. Do you realize who God really is though? Isa 45:7, we fail a lot of times of knowing just who God is. Who is He in your life?

There is a false doctrine that's commonly called the "little god doctrine" which puts God on the same level as us as humans. They believe they can live an upright sinless life and as long as they live that way they can do anything God can do. The bible teaches us that there is no one that's sinless but Jesus Christ Himself. We ALL fall short of the kingdom of God. Jesus Christ was NOT just a man, He was God incarnate. This means that Jesus was sinless and there is none that will ever be like Him.

God is all knowing, nothing takes God by surprise. God does not operate on a knee jerk reaction. God knows if you're going to fall away from Him before it ever happens.

If you'll stop and think about who God really is then your worship would change. You're view would change from the troubles in your life to the one who truly controls everything in your life. God is not your crutch, He is not your copilot.

Isaiah 45:5-7

5I am the LORD, and there is none else, there is no God beside me: I girded thee, though thou hast not known me: 6That they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that there is none beside me. I am the LORD, and there is none else. 7I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things. (KJV)

Isaiah 45:20-22

20Assemble yourselves and come; draw near together, ye that are escaped of the nations: they have no knowledge that set up the wood of their graven image, and pray unto a god that cannot save. 21Tell ye, and bring them near; yea, let them take counsel together: who hath declared this from ancient time? who hath told it from that time? have not I the LORD? and there is no God else beside me; a just God and a Saviour; there is none beside me. 22Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else. (KJV)
