Maintaining Our Passion For The Lord (Luke 8:14, John 17:17, 1 Thessalonians 5:15-24)

Matthew AdamsMatthew Adams, May 18, 2014
Part of the Miscellaneous series, preached at a Sunday Evening service

God is the only thing that can give you happiness for eternity. Once God has convicted you it's a horrible feeling to know if you die you'll awake in hell. There is pleasure in sins for just a few days but in the end is death. Once you see your sin and repent, God is happy to receive you back into His arms. The difference between a sinner and a saved is that a sinner has nothing to lean on. A saved person has God to lean on and to ask for help that will never turn them away. How many times will God forgive you? When we were created a soul that lives forever was added to our lives. When we die, that soul will live either in Heaven or in hell. When we pray we are talking to God on a one-on-one basis. When we pray we get answers but sometimes they are not answered the way we think they ought to be. We should pray like it matters not because we feel we have to pray. Has there been anything that God has done good for you? Do we thank God for your health? Are you spoiled and expect more from God? As in football, God never has a bad season, He is ALWAYS the winner. We all have something good to say about God, Share it!

Luke 8:14

14And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection. (KJV)

John 17:17

17Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. (KJV)

1 Thessalonians 5:15-24

15See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men. 16Rejoice evermore. 17Pray without ceasing. 18In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. 19Quench not the Spirit. 20Despise not prophesyings. 21Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. 22Abstain from all appearance of evil. 23And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 24Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it. (KJV)
