Doing What You Want To Do (Luke 15:11-17)

Tommy BoringTommy Boring, November 17, 2013
Part of the Miscellaneous series, preached at a Sunday Morning service

If you are born again then you are child of God. Just because you are a child of God doesn't mean that you can not fall into sin. Every form of sin is rebellion and sin is despised by God. God wants us to draw near to Him and stay repented. When you rebel against God, your life will become rough. Regardless of the sin that was committed, it is rebellion against God. Now if you do not feel a drawing when you sin then you need to examine if you've been saved. Young adults will often rebel against their parents thinking they know what the world holds for them.

There are some warning signs that one should be aware of. Because He loves us, He will chasten us. Being punished for disobedience is not pleasant but is needed for repentance. One could say each time they sin and say they are not condemned for it, therefore they can continue in it. That is a lie from satan to the ones that are saved. If there is not a constant crying out from your soul when you do wrong, then there is something wrong. Knowing what you know now, have you been saved? The lost do not have an advocate, only those that are born again do. Some will have to get to the end of the road before they will ask for forgiveness.

It's past time that we get down to business and be about Gods work. You can go to the enemies camp thinking that you will be ok. In the end he will take your love, joy and will destroy the ones around you. If one does what they want to do they will be following after themselves and not God. We are lustful by nature because we want what we want. When one gets outside the will of God not only does it hurt that one, but it hurts those around them. God does not play with sinners. You can try to put it out of your mind or thoughts all you want, but there is an end. A person that refuses to repent will starve themselves to death, spiritually.  God will do whatever it takes to bring HIS children home.

Luke 15:11-17

11And he said, A certain man had two sons: 12And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his living. 13And not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living. 14And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want. 15And he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country; and he sent him into his fields to feed swine. 16And he would fain have filled his belly with the husks that the swine did eat: and no man gave unto him. 17And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father's have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger!
