Wait Patiently (Psalm 40:1-3, Psalm 27:14, Isaiah 40:30-31, Psalm 37:7, Hebrews 10:36, Romans 15:4, Romans 5:3)Tommy Boring, October 2, 2013
Part of the Miscellaneous series, preached at a Wednesday service
All of our faith is waiting on the Lord. There are a lot of times that we give up too soon. Does God answer prayers? If you've walked with Him any amount of time then you'll know that God answers prayers. If God has made a promise to you, it WILL come true. Most of the time when we pray, it requires some faith, thus patience. Should one pray for patience if it brings on trouble? It wouldn't require faith if we didn't have to wait for our answers from God. At times we do worry and stress over waiting. Don't jump ahead of what God is going to do. We can have rest while we are waiting. Have you ever felt like things were just falling apart. Patience is the hinge that everything hangs on, it's needed. Patience means hope. Patience doesn't come easy. Our hope is anchored by patience knowing that God will do all that He promised.

1I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry. 2He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. 3And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD. (KJV)
14Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD. (KJV)
30Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: 31But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. (KJV)
7Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass. (KJV)
36For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise. (KJV)
4For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope. (KJV)
3And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; (KJV)
