"This Is Gonna Hurt Me Worse Than It's Gonna Hurt You" (Exodus 20:12, Proverbs 30:17, Ephesians 6:1-3, Hebrews 12:6-9)Tommy Boring, September 19, 2012
Part of the God's Top Ten series, preached at a Wednesday service
Life brings forth experience and experience brings forth knowledge. If you can't act correctly in your earthly home, then you're not going to act correctly in your spiritual home. You should have a relationship with your parents. If you can't understand authority then it will follow you for the rest of your life. If you think it, your Heavenly Father knows about it. The promise to honoring your parents is that you will live longer and be blessed.
Parents, you must love and chasten.

12Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee. (KJV)
17The eye that mocketh at his father, and despiseth to obey his mother, the ravens of the valley shall pick it out, and the young eagles shall eat it. (KJV)
1Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. 2Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;) 3That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth. (KJV)
6For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. 7If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not? 8But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons. 9Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live? (KJV)
